Not fixed at all for me after this update. Same issue. Same messages. I tried from the Global Resources under Settings and "no space" popped up again. I tried going to the store to try there. but somehow, i can't even access my packs or anything from the top bar at all. I can only navigate the actual packs menus and below. So re-downloading fro the store is a total bust there as well. I have Cached texture pack for City that I can't even delete now as well. ...

1 year now I have been waiting to play the world I built for my kids on the Legacy version of Minecraft, so that my kids and I can connect at least while they're on lockdowns and so on at their home, and we can't even do that.... All i want is to use the City pack with our world, it's a simple request. Could you give me that at least please ?

I don't think any specific packs trigger this issue. I believe it's the culmination of many factors, including how this is set to handle the cache on the PS4 locally, given that all types of packs are not stored locally but on their servers, which Bedrock constantly downloads and re-downloads (which should not happen period, if we pay for something, it should be stored locally and accessed locally as with the legacy version of Minecraft).

My problem didn't start by a download. my problem started after i had bought a few packs and free ones from the store, and everything was fine, until an update was made, and right after that update, things started.

The only way this issue starts getting proper attention, is obviously if more people start watching and voting for it. We're not retailers offering free codes, we're just paying customers, so we don't get special treatment or attention, so we need to go through the proper channels and wait patiently to have this addressed so we can play our game. I'm playing legacy version in the meantime, as at least that version is stable.

So, something new happened this past weekend while connecting with my daughter to play our usual world.

As I stated in a prior post, even with repeated failed attempt to download the City pack in order to play in her world, the City pack did finally manage to load about 50% of its textures, so that when I play, i have about half City and half default textures.

This time though, I tried for over 30 minutes to connect to her world, and each time it would try to re-download the city pack (why would it re-download if it's supposed to already be on my PS4 ????) and fail each time. She finally had to change her settings to uncheck the ability to use the same texture pack as her world, in order for me to connect and play. 2 issues here which were apparent:

  1. There was no option to ignore the errors, and continue onto her world, after the failed attempts. I just got bounced back to the main worlds menu each time.

  2. the error message was "error downloading the texture pack from the server", which reinforces my theory that texture packs are not stored locally on the console, as with the legacy version, but "online". meaning that any pack we pay for, we don't actually "have". Using up bandwidth each time (concerning for people with download caps for ISP's), as well as not actually storing the packs locally, is what leads to this issue.

There should be no reason why the packs we "pay" for are not stored locally. We pay for them as we did in the previous Minecraft version, but that older version, everything on locally. There were never issues like the ones right now. So why is this process different now ? It's the direct result of mishandling cache and storage on the console. The only way to fix this, is to make it work as it did before in the last version of Minecraft before Bedrock borked everything.

And to add insult to injury, I read the patch notes from this morning's 2.31 update to the PS4.. so an "urgent" patch release, outside the normal release schedule, to address retailer codes for "owned" packs (free packs) takes precedence over paying customers who have issues with packs they own ???

This issues gets worse as time goes by, more and more paying customers are being impacted by this issue, and we're getting ignored, over something like this ?

Good to know where paying customers stand with you people...Can you please fix this issue, and change the entire process for texture packs and downloads for the store so that the items we pay for are stored locally on our consoles and not having to re-download things constantly, which is where this issue kicks in. Problem would be solved if you did....

I'm not using any external devices at all.

I tried clearing the cache, as noted in my previous post, as well as storage. I've done so many times without success. Today's latest 2.30 update also did nothing to resolve the issues. The visible cache here is not the issue, there is obviously a hidden cache on the PS4, and between the constant "downloading packs", and the game saves, is what is causing this issue, as I also previously mentioned. Compare the functionality of texture packs between the Legacy version and bedrock, and the answers should help address this issue for everyone.

Magdalena,

If this issue was being "actively" looked at, and not just seemingly forgotten (yes i check the full workflow and status every week), then perhaps there would be no need for "extra" comments. Unfortunately, that's not the case, and it's extremely frustrating from a user's perspective. Updates come and go, and still no resolve. So how else are we to convey this frustration ?

I will, however, add some extra details and be clear as I can for this ticket, as per your "request".

  1. I am on the PS4 (although I also have a PC version as well, which I rarely play)

  2. My PC version, can access all the texture packs, without any issues, as well, as downloading new packs from the store. Meaning, the issue is not with the store, or with the account, but with the console itself (Switch, Xbox, PS4), as I have seen others with different console also having the same issues.

  3. I cannot uninstall, and reinstall Minecraft on the PS4. I have a monthly cap from my ridiculously overpriced ISP (Canadian ISP's are all above the global average), so doing this is NOT an option. Not to mention, I still play the legacy version and have tons of saves from my kids and I, which I have no idea if it all be lost somehow doing this process, and I am not taking that chance.

  4. I have done the "clear cache" process, as described on the wiki's troubleshooting pages, and on other tickets here. Clearing the cache does nothing.

  5. I've deleted the packs from the Storage section and from the Texture packs section in the Setting's from inside the game menu. Does nothing.

  6. Downloading from the store generates the same messages.

  7. I've checked and rechecked the system's folders, and nothing. I currently have 120 gigs free on my PS4. downloading a 20mg pack should be nothing.

What I have noticed, is that the textures do not behave as it did on the legacy version, when a pack was bought and installed, the pack was installed directly on the PS4, and we only needed to switch to it from the main save menu or game menu. on Bedrock, this is obviously not the case, as the packs are not saved locally, they may be cached in the storage, depending IF I am connecting with my kids for multiplayer functionality, and even then, only partially (I'll explain in a moment). Bedrock seems to "download" the packs constantly, or trying to, as apparent from the "downloading global textures" messages each time I load the game, or the re-downloading of the texture pack that I was using, back when this was working.

I think that this directly or indirectly is responsible for this issue, since the texture packs are installed on the PC, and I never get the "downloading pack" messages at all. But the PS4 (and assuming consoles) have a different behaviour apparently, and the information is not stored locally for the game. Otherwise there would be no "downloading pack" messages at all. Change this process, and I believe it will fix the console issues. Console user should not have to "download" any texture packs we own / have bought, constantly, over and over again, anyway. We didn't on the legacy version.

As for my comment on connecting to my kids. They have the City Texture pack, so connecting to their world, I managed to get 99% download then an error. I tried a dozen times with the same results. However, The pack's texture partially cached in the storage for the save of my kid's world. So when I connect to their world, I get half of the city textures, and half of the default textures. Maybe this helps, a bit, who knows, but I am adding details as you asked.

Hopefully this helps, and hopefully this ticket will be taken more seriously and actively.

thanks

not really an option for many people to do this for various reasons, deleting and reinstalling. some people (like myself) have internet packages with monthly download caps, for example. and when you think about it, what happens when (not if) it happens again.. delete and reinstall once more ? not really ideal. it's mostly a temp workaround at best, but not a solution to the actual problem itself, which, apparently, 4J Studios and Mojang don't seem to care about, as exampled by the current bug status which has been the same status for a very long time now......

MCPE-102459

this is the current and open ticket on this issue, if anyone wants to comment and follow there.

Still no progress or resolve here i see. I also found another ticket which is not associated to this one, and should be.

This has been rather frustrating.

I had 9 texture packs. All were downloaded and all were working. They were working that is, until update 2.23. And then it started. i converted an older legacy world to show my kids the progress on their castles, and it froze / hung when converting the City Texture pack. When i close the application, and restarted Minecraft, i started getting the error message that many have been having.

When i tried to activate my other texture packs, the same message occurred. so I deleted them, and went to the store to download them again, and all of the packs showed "downloading" and nothing happened. so I stopped the downloads on each one to try and download them all again. When I clicked on download on any packs to re-download them, same message about no space available.

I have not uninstalled / reinstalled Minecraft, because i should not have to do this at all. This is a major bug from what I can read on the web, and nothing has been done to try and fix this. Even though you people apparently have lots of time to add new functionality, it's rather useless if people cannot play the game. So maybe allocating some resources to help fix this issue (and many others....) once and for all might be a good idea.

My kids and their friends have started referring to this game now as "Minecraft Broken" and "Bedrock, the game that fun forgot", which i think is rather unfair, but also appropriate given the circumstances.

I use my PS4 for this game. I also own a copy on PC which seems to work fine, including the texture packs. But my legacy stuff in on my PS4 and I would really like to be able to use my texture packs on Bedrock WITHOUT having to re-download them constantly. This never had any problems on Legacy. Maybe it should be updated to work the same way, as it would certainly fix many issues.

I am using legacy only for now until this issue is resolved, which from what I read, is far from being resolved.

Thanks

Ever since the last update / hotfix a few weeks back, for the PS4, i started experiencing this very issue. at first I simply closed the application, waited about 10 seconds and restarted it, and i could get past the loading screen. Tonight though, i am stuck. i have closed and restarted over a dozen times so far and nothing. I have restarted my PS4 and the issue persists still. Which is odd since i was playing it less than an hour ago, and turned off my PS4 to have dinner.

Of note, i usually do not play the Bedrock edition (don't get me started as to why), and normally play the legacy version. but tonight i wanted to show my daughter the castle i made for her, and she only has Bedrock on her PS4. so i converted the legacy world to Bedrock, loaded the save to make sure it was ok, at which point it "downloaded" the texture i use (city) before actually generating the world. but once in, i clicked "save and exit" and then i closed the application for dinner.

I am convinced at this point that this might be related to the texture pack download functionality (which is a separate issue on its own, since it should not even download any texture packs i own already, it should behave like the legacy version...), and somehow this created some kind of issue which is now causing the infinite loading screen.

I did try the button combination "fix" but that didn't work, like at all.10 minutes and loading screen still there. and no I am not about to delete my game and the reinstall it. that's just stupid to expect anyone to do this.

Can this issue finally be resolved once and for all please and thank you !!!!
