PlayStation: "Not enough space" when trying to download Marketplace content

This report is specific to Sony Playstation. For a similar issue related to Nintendo Switch see MCPE-36670.

Note

Approximate steps to reproduce based on pinned comments:

  1. Install MC on PlayStation, log in to MC with your Microsoft Account, and purchase something in the Marketplace.

  2. Close MC on the PlayStation.

  3. Log in to your Microsoft account on another device.

  4. Reopen MC on the PlayStation and try to download the Marketplace content you purchased earlier.

Expected result
You can download the content.

Observed result
You get a message saying "Not enough space - xx MB"
Each time you try to download the content, the amount of MB reported in the message doubles.

I bought Minecraft on my PS4 and have previously made in game purchases before that were fine. I recently bought currency and used it to purchase a game called Pets Collection and it's in my inventory but it won't download as it says there's not enough space on my PS4 system. When you try again it says the same thing but where it says 'not enough space' the number of MB doubles. There's loads of storage space on my PS4 and in the Minecraft game itself but I'm just stuck. It won't let me download anything else now, it's like there's a glitch/bug. I've been in touch with the PlayStation people and their suggestions have not helped (restore licenses etc.) and directed here for advice after advice to delete more templates and worlds failed to help, even though there's plenty of space on my Minecraft profile, it just shows the same message).

I also have a similar problem, when playing my world, I get a warning that the storage space is full and you won't be able to save the progress, but when I see the storage space bar it shows that there is still plenty of space, I'm really desperate, I can't play any world

I just got this issue today and was looking for any way to resolve this issue

Hi. I am a French user of Minecraft on Nintendo . I got the same issue when updating a purchased extra game, such as Toy's Story.

This has been rather frustrating.

I had 9 texture packs. All were downloaded and all were working. They were working that is, until update 2.23. And then it started. i converted an older legacy world to show my kids the progress on their castles, and it froze / hung when converting the City Texture pack. When i close the application, and restarted Minecraft, i started getting the error message that many have been having.

When i tried to activate my other texture packs, the same message occurred. so I deleted them, and went to the store to download them again, and all of the packs showed "downloading" and nothing happened. so I stopped the downloads on each one to try and download them all again. When I clicked on download on any packs to re-download them, same message about no space available.

I have not uninstalled / reinstalled Minecraft, because i should not have to do this at all. This is a major bug from what I can read on the web, and nothing has been done to try and fix this. Even though you people apparently have lots of time to add new functionality, it's rather useless if people cannot play the game. So maybe allocating some resources to help fix this issue (and many others....) once and for all might be a good idea.

My kids and their friends have started referring to this game now as "Minecraft Broken" and "Bedrock, the game that fun forgot", which i think is rather unfair, but also appropriate given the circumstances.

I use my PS4 for this game. I also own a copy on PC which seems to work fine, including the texture packs. But my legacy stuff in on my PS4 and I would really like to be able to use my texture packs on Bedrock WITHOUT having to re-download them constantly. This never had any problems on Legacy. Maybe it should be updated to work the same way, as it would certainly fix many issues.

I am using legacy only for now until this issue is resolved, which from what I read, is far from being resolved.

Thanks

Still no progress or resolve here i see. I also found another ticket which is not associated to this one, and should be.

The Storage is the PlayStation System Storage Exclusive Data and you allow 8.01GB but we are only getting 5GB

Am getting the same error I only have two worlds. I can't download purchases at all. I'm not signed in any where else. My PS5 has plenty of space. Please help.

Same issue.
Cleared cache, removed all downloads, removed 100s of worlds, still can't download my purchases.
Logged into another PlayStation account where Minecraft was never used.  Purchased the world (again!) from the Store, can't download it!
This is insane.  I have two very disappointed kids.
Apparently this bug report was opened 4 years ago!

I have a severe version of this issue. I can't do anything because of this "low data storage" pop-up. It appears when I try to play on my world, when I try to copy my world, when I click on the marketplace, when I try to create a new world, and even when I click on my dressing room. I literally can't do anything because of it. The game is unplayable now. I tried everything in the pinned comment. I unsigned out of my Microsoft account on my mobile. Deleted then reinstalled Minecraft on PS5. It didn't work. I even unlinked my Microsoft account from my PS5 and even that didn't work.

Dev: We’ve isolated the root cause of this issue, as the PS4 handles downloading differently than other platforms, with a potential bug causing the download cache to get full with no way to clear it. A fix is in the works for that, hopefully coming soon, along with increased readability for the error popup letting users know what actions to take. Adding in auto-clearing if it’s detected to be catastrophically low like some of these comments indicate, and a button on the storage menu to clear it out manually. I’m also fighting for increased visibility in the storage menu itself, but since this is unique to PS4/5, it's an uphill battle.

Sadly the “Earthy Texture Pack” Is actually too large to be downloaded via normal means on the PS4 console, the download cache has a maximum capacity of 650MB, with Earthy Textures being larger than that, so no amount of deleting anything will be able to fix that. We’re still in discussions on what to actually do with that pack and any others that may be like it. I’m honestly surprised players are able to get it downloaded via joining an active server that already has it running. So maybe request a refund on that item if you’re planning on playing it exclusively on the PS4, as any fix for that will be much further down the line.

For those experiencing this issue, don’t bother deleting worlds, that will not solve anything as worlds are stored in a separate space as far as I could tell.

Sorry that this has taken so long to get fixed, and that I can’t offer a workaround.
