I'm amazed by all of this. The least Mojang could do is acknowledge the issues. They might then consider apologising to people for selling them a faulty product, and thank people on these forums for doing their jobs for them and investigating the bugs. Instead, it's complete silence. Absolutely no ownership of the situation at all. The best game of all time (when it works) combined with the worst customer service. What a shame.

I know that they like these comments to be exclusively for adding further information to the additional bug report, but it's INCREDIBLY frustrating that Mojang seem to be completely ignoring the fact that their game is almost unplayable on a product that they continue to sell, and that pre-existing customers have been completely ignored when we try to raise these issues. For context, my partner also raised this by email and received an incorrect response to suggest that our network has issues (it doesn't) and that we read some FAQs (which we already had). I absolutely love Minecraft as a game, but sadly this customer support is appalling. We're not beta testers. We have paid for this game, and for subscriptions, and we rightly expect that it should work.

Further update. This might have been clarified above, but it must exclusively be due to an aspect of the online stuff. I set up a second account on my Switch, which doesn't have a Nintendo Online account. As the account can't connect to marketplace or Realms, the game loads offline worlds without any issues at all. I had one random crash, but none of the other issues mentioned above.

This one is very similar to MCPE-109371. Wouldn't be surprised if it is the same. I'm starting to wonder if there's simply no support for the Nintendo Switch version, as these bugs make the game almost unplayable, but nobody has even officially verified that this is the case.

Here's a non-exhaustive list of things that cause the menu to load slowly, or to essentially freeze the game. These seem to happen inconsistently, but occur the majority of the time. For me, it is rare that any of the menus work as expected.

  • Attempting to load a realm, including if that's the first thing you try to do when opening the game

  • Attempting to load a different world after exiting a previous one

  • Accessing marketplace content

  • (Sometimes) when attempting to access your inventory or a chest in a realm

  • (Sometimes) when attempting to access your list of realms and offline worlds

For the things which don't outright cause the game not to respond, there are also things that take far too long.

For example, the 'fetching realm information' dialog can appear on screen for a minute just to toggle a basic setting.

Just to reiterate: Switch firmware fully updated, game fully updated, no other connectivity issues in other games or on other devices. It is a faulty product as things stand, because although the game (largely) works when a world is loaded up, the menus fail more often than they work.

Same for me, running 11.0.1.

I'm wondering if this is the same as MCPE-113418, which was posted about half an hour ago. If so, I think this affects non-marketplace content for me as well, such as locally saved worlds.

I am also having this issue, as is my partner. We both play on the original Nintendo Switch consoles, with up-to-date system software, running 1.16.201.

If I leave a world and try to enter another one, I often see the screen that shows the scrolling background (of the nether) and some loading bars (with no text). It will stay on this indefinitely.

This also happens if I leave Minecraft open on one of the menus (without a world loaded up), and then attempt to load a world.

I've also bought a realm subscription this evening, and frustratingly, it won't let me load that whatsoever, again showing that screen with the loading bars. This isn't a connectivity issue, as literally all other devices are working, as are other apps on the Switch.

This bug is making the game almost unplayable.

Have to say, I'm pretty annoyed about this issue. Mine is occurring on the latest update on Switch. You can't replace a realm or reset it with the settings you want. No particular resolution appears to be in sight, and it's not clear how you claim a refund given that the service and game no longer work. I don't like it when paying customers are used as beta testers for updates that stop the game working.

Do you think this will allow us to recover these worlds, or are they gone forever. I hope the hotfix solves it. I miss Minecraft.

My issue wasn’t an online one, but just in case, I followed the steps to upload, delete, then download data from the cloud. The worlds still won’t load. It would be really annoying if that data is corrupted forever. An update like that shouldn’t get to the point of being released.

I've commented on one of the other duplicate threads. I think I've been in a village each time this has happened (or near one at least).

I'll sum up the issue on my Switch:

  • A world will become corrupted and I won't be able to load it. (The game crashes two or three seconds into loading it).

  • It looks as if the thumbnail for that world is corrupted, with the top 5% of it not displaying properly.

  • I have been playing offline, with no mods or resource packs.

  • It affected my single player world, but the game would crash a lot more when I was playing split screen multiplayer

  • Given that the game crashed a lot while in the world, I wondered if it was an issue caused by crashing during an autosave.

  • This didn't happen before the Village and Pillage update.

  • For what it's worth, I use the cartridge version with an SD card for storage.

  • All of the worlds I've made since that update have now become corrupt.

I agree with the other commenters who say that it makes the game unplayable. It's not worth playing if at any point you could lose hours upon hours of work. Hopefully it will get sorted, ideally with access to our old worlds.

I have had this issue, also on Nintendo Switch. Some worlds won't load. After about 3s of attempting to load, the game crashes. Changing any of the world settings doesn't resolve it. I now can't get into two worlds that I've spent a while on, so it's making the game unplayable. There's no point playing if at any point you could lose all your progress. Very, very annoying.

(Has happened on a world that only I've played in and also on splitscreen multiplayer. No resources / mods).
