Confirmed, leaves replace half slabs and walls and fences too.

It can be invisibility potion. When you trow invisibility potion on spider you will see only its eyes and when you trow potion on sheep you will see only wool (when you shear the sheep it disappear)

It also happens on 1.3. I think it is bad connection of server or your connection.

It can be top of sheep's head, isn't it?

Confirmed, I tried all six sides of TNT. When I fired on the top it didn't works. From bellow it works.

You can plant mushrooms in water. Put water on a block where you want mushroom and then quickly put in water the mushroom (but you cannot grow the mushroom with bonemeal)
