Some good news, and some bad news.

Good....I was able contact Microsoft (1 800 642-7676) and cancel my subscription and receive a refund.

Bad.....They would only refund my last payment installment and this was "an exception." They recommended contacting Mojang to resolve my issues and that if I decide to purchase Realms again, "the developer" would be the only one that could address in-game purchases and issues.

Recommendation: Cancel you Realm subscription, try to get a refund (at least for one month; I had three months I was paying for Realms that was not functioning properly for the purpose of which I subscribed - uploading worlds so that I can play cross-platform), and only re-subscribe once there is a confirmed fix.

Questions for Mojang: What steps are you willing to take to protect your customers from incurring unnecessary expenses for a service that is broken? If Microsoft is only issuing refunds "by exception," how do you plan to compensate those of us who continued paying despite dealing with an issue we expected to be resolved sooner? Is there a better platform for customers to address non-technical/development issue concerns such as this?

Closing Comment: I agree that this is a space customers/users should not use to vent dissatisfaction, but instead to document issues and contribute productively. However, there seems to be a disconnect between you and Big Microsoft. We love your product and want to support its development, but you can't expect us to continue paying for a broken service/product....especially as many are feeling the financial impact of the current pandemic. I wish I could continue contributing to the troubleshooting effort, but I can no longer afford it and look forward to when this issue is resolved so that I can continue enjoying your game on multiple platforms and with friends.

Downloaded the update this morning to my Switch and attempted to upload my world. Still received the “An error occurred” Error Message immediately. This message persists with small (0.1MB) and larger (271.4MB) worlds...even after resetting the Realm and attempting again. Reset Realm is playable, however.

I was watching other bug reports of this similar issue, specifically for the Nintendo Switch, but Mods insist that it was a duplicate directing me here. After reading the description I experienced this loading death screen at my most recent bed, not the spawn location. I don’t know if this makes a difference, but thought it might be worth sharing as it is slightly different and don’t want to see my specific issue not being addressed by the 1.9 release. Thanks!

Also experienced this after the panda and cats update. It seemed like I had died multiple times as the death screen was not where I had “save and quit.” I noticed that after saving and quitting the dialogue box says it is “Generating World” and “Loading Resources,” similar to when I select the world I want to play.
