Placing redstone on glowstone is still moderately new and I dont think all of the "features" of it have been ironed out yet.
Glowstone, although it allows wire to be placed on it will not transmit power. To test this try to pass power through a glowstone block using a repeater. When you place powered redstone on top of a block that block normally becomes "powered" but glowstone cannot. This may be why this bug currently exists.
Edit: Works as intended nice.
I have seen this effect. The game engine does not apply the dynamic lighting to glowstone when the chunk is generated. Usually happens if I am generating new chunks quickly by flying or something. A block update does fix this 100% of the time by triggering the dynamic lighting to refresh.
I have experienced this problem as well. Seems to be harder to hit with arrows too. Thought it was just low fps.
It has always been this way. Farlands are called that because they are out of the range of map generation. You arent actually supposed to play out there.
EDIT:
Yes, works as intended. An interesting write up from the minecraft wiki

There is a mod for SMP that prevents rails moving. Is this SMP or SSP?
I also am unable to reproduce this bug in 1.4.4 or 1.4.5 pre
Sometimes I even have to hit the right shift key even though I never use it while playing.
You demonstrated it well. Noteblocks and doors are excellent examples. Interesting bug. Thanks!
Do you have an example I can use to test this. I have never built a device that complex.
Bug still exists in 1.4.4
It is an old glitch. One I wish would be fixed.
This has been around for a while. I feel the ideal fix would be to have falling gravel and sand destroy cobwebs (with no drop) although the fact that they are entities may make this solution difficult. All other entities are supposed to fall through cobweb slow.
This is fixed in 1.4.4
This was a common and significant problem in 1.4.2 SMP. Happened with most blocks and what was attached to them. Redstone, repeaters, redstone torches, torches, and crops would all break the block they were attached too when you broken them.
This feature/bug was from before chests had opening lids (when they used to occupy an entire block and texture based X-Rayers couldnt see them pre B 1.8) It is essential for making chests set in the walls. I would rather see a "chest of drawers" than a closet. Stacking chests and setting them in walls is a huge part of my survival building style although the graphical glitch and concept are strange.
Well, maybe it should teleport you back to the nether if you stand in the arrival portal for that long.
I thing this bug is awesome. You can send a minecart to max height with no powered rails BUT if the stacked carts fly off their circle they will travel forever in a direction even on no rails. That is kind of buggy and causes problems.
I had this problem when I attempted to change my Nvidia card to use anti-aliasing as well. Application controlled was the only setting I could use where this didnt happen.
I personally loved that feature (bug) and both of those would be wonderful to have back in the game.
This has happened to me since Beta.
