Yeah, same here, several hours of effort rolled back; very aggravating that this can't be managed better. Not the first time we've seen this bug.
This is happening to several users over the last 24 hours. It's happened to me twice since yesterday. Hhere's a reddit thread on the subject:

Using Ubuntu and the java server 1.14. Ran the --eraseCache. Things seemed better initially so I removed the switch. Now it's back, so I stopped the server, added the --eraseCache back into my java launch and the problem is still happening. Seems like whole chunks are affected while others aren't.
All the 1.13 trades were already unlocked before loading it up in 1.14 PR on both traders. In 1.13 the trader had been heavily traded with. The other, not so much.
The heavily traded villager has no XP bar, is only called Toolsmith, and I can infinitely trade diamond picks with no lockout. The lesser traded one does get the XP bar and eventually goes away when I trade through to Master Toolsmith, as expected. However, it already had all its tools unlocked, so it still added a couple things, but didn't look right. When unlocking them, I probably traded 1 lot of coal, let the refresh occur, then 1 lot of iron, so that would expose the diamond pick. Minimal trading.
In 1.14, the XP and levels add another pick and then a shovel and then it's at master.
I finally got Optimize World to work and my previously unplayable local copy is now playable. Dinnerbone has said that it "secretly" is updating chunks in the background to the new version. I'd say it's not all that secret.
I'm trying to figure out if I should upload back to the linux server, my Optimized World MCAs or just update the server and leave it alone for a while.
After the 5th Optimize World, it succeed and started processing all 800K chunks (and finished, only skipping 3000). Now my CPU is about the same, but it's completely playable on my local copy.
Big question: should I run my linux server with 1.13 right away or should I locally Optimize World and the copy the MCAs back up?
I just tried Optimize World and it ran out of memory in the game. My system, however never went below 10 GB free memory.
It seems all are giving me trouble, but one's definitely problematic.
There's a 10 MB limit when I try. It's a large world.
I attached the MCA that is causing me trouble. It was 1.12.2, but I've opened it in 1.13. Let me know if you need the original 1.12.2 version.
yeah, this still happens. maybe it's some kind of repl failure. really aggravating.
