30-5-24: PlayStation have agreed to process a refund as a result of this missing button. I would advise anyone having this issue with the digital version to attempt to do the same. Since my purchase was refunded, using my disc copy of the game displays the Editions button like normal.

As far as attempting at recreating this bug, to avoid this post being deleted, I deleted all accounts off my PS4 except my own account to avoid any account to avoid any conflicting licenses and redownloaded the game. The "Full Entitlement" addon is still present on PS4 but not on PS5. Editions button was still missing at this point. I noticed downloading the game digitally on PS4, the XMB displays the legacy game icon until the game finishes downloading. However downloading it on PS5, it displays as the Bedrock icon from the beginning. Even when using the disc, unless I'm offline when I install it from the disc.

It's quite confusing as your game seems to work differently than mine. I do notice how our scenarios are slightly different. For me even on other accounts that don't own Minecraft, the Editions button is missing. This occurs with the 2014 disc and from the digital download (Purhcased pre bedrock).

I am mid way through trying a fix, a recently uploaded youtube video stated that you need to have 5 hours played on the PS4 Edition to get it to show up. Over the last few days I've had my console completely offline playing and sitting AFK in the 1.00 version from the disc. I'm using 2 accounts, one owns Minecraft digitally and the other does not. Hoping to see a resolution on either account at this point.

I have however tried your method of joining an invite from someone in Editions but this does not work for me, joining the invite will result in a "this lobby is no longer available" message. Also your mention of it being tied to a digital purchase is interesting, as I have friends who still have Editions and they mentioned it being because of a digital deluxe version that you can buy on the store.

This deluxe edition contains the aforementioned "Full Entitlement", and also contains "Minecraft" + "Minecraft PS4 Edition" as separate titles.  

Seeing the game listed twice here, as two different games, completely contradicts what PlayStation Support said in an email to me. They claim that bedrock is just the latest update of the game, and not a separate title.

Looking at the base Minecraft store page, the "What's inside" only lists "Minecraft" and "Full Entitlement. This just begs the question though, why was my account even affected? Both instances of Minecraft that I use are both pre Bedrock.

Personally, after already having paid for the game twice and still being unable to play Editions, I don't particularly fancy paying for the deluxe bundle to find out of it works. Although I wouldn't even be able to as I already own the base game digitally.

I've been trying all the workarounds I've been able to find, on PS4 and PS5. So far I'm the same as you where none have worked. Using the disc or digital download there has been no difference in my troubleshooting. Currently waiting for a reply from PlayStation Support again.

Following the initial advice given to me by Mojang I bought the game on disc. The 2014 release of the game with Steve in diamond armour on the front cover.

After installing it from the disc the editions button still doesn't appear. Even the "correct" way to play this game doesn't work.

No I owned the game on disc in 2018, then bought it digitally in June 2019. I haven't owned or played it on disc since. Both of these were before bedrock was on PS. My post I was referring to reports (including yours) that i had seen from other people.

I found a youtube video that suggested downloading from an account that purchsed the game before Dec 2019 and playing on an account that doesn't have a PSN linked to it but this also doesn't work for me. I have tried downloading from three accounts that all purchased Minecraft before 2019 and all downloads include the "full entitlement" addon and do not feature an editions button

Since the issue has been in the game through so many updates and hotfixes and theres just no communication between any support team, I would appreciate just an update since PlayStation support straight up lies about something thats stated on the FAQs for the game.

I think if they can't get the Editions button back, they could do what they did for Nintendo Switch and have the 4J release as a separate game on the store which remained available for previous owners. Then this couldn't even be considered a bug affecting the current Bedrock version, it would actually be working as intended.

The more concerning part is that there are reports of this happening to people who have the original PS4 Edition disc who are also having this issue. No amount of rebuilding my database, deleting and restoring save data and reinstalling the game have proven useful to me and many others.

Kuraudo, thanks for your post hoping mojang at least bats an eye at this bug now after 4 years. I have some more information i'd like to provide. For me I owned it on disc AND bought it digitally, both pre bedrock. I lost access on PS5 a few months ago (Roughly when Minecraft Preview launched). I only recently lost access on my PS4, that console was previously offline due to not being used. While the console was offline I had access to Editions, updating my System Software and connecting it to the internet the button disappeared. I specifically updated the console and NOT Minecraft to try and avoid this.  This leads me to believe it's an issue with my account.

TEXT BELOW IS PURELY SPECULATION

In the EU, the PS4 Edition and Bedrock Edition both share the same serial code of CUSA00265. I'm unsure if this is the case for other regions. Looking in "manage game content" on my PS4 & PS5, I can see a DLC called "Minecraft Full Entitlement". Then looking at sites such as OrbisPatches or SerialStation and taking a look at the addon content publicly listed as available for CUSA00265, I can see "Minecraft Full Entitlement" which has the Content ID "BEDROCKSECRET000".

I have asked a few friends who STILL HAVE EDITIONS to look in their "Manage Game Content" and from the people I've asked, none of them have this addon present in their list. Once again this leads me to believe that it's a licensing issue on my account, and as my PS4 lost access AFTER connecting to the internet, it further backs up my theory.

If this "full entitlement" addon is what is causing me issues, I would assume that Mojang has no control over this. But as PlayStation refuses to assist, I would need someone from Mojang to directly confirm my suspicion so I can take the evidence to PS to have this resolved.

Avoid going to Playstation Support as they seem to believe Editions is a removed feature and is no longer accessible which is a blantant lie.
To save anyone reading this a headache with Mojang and PS Support both being equally useless. I was sent a step by step from PS.

1) Back up your saved data.
2) Application Data Management,
3) Delete Minecraft and select all. Then Delete.
4) Deactivate the PlayStation as a primary console/ for offline gameplay.
5) if more than one account owns Minecraft, you should try and deactivate these profiles.
6) Download Minecraft again
7) Launch Minecraft again

This didn't work for me personally but it's the only "help" I was given from either company. The past month I was sent in circles and told that both companies couldn't help me. Seems I have permanently lost access to the game i paid for so good luck to anyone who sees this.

Button randomly disappeared for me in the last few months I had it digitally from before bedrock came out, seen other people say its a per account thing but for me i cant access editions across my whole console. Even on other accounts that have pre-bedrock minecraft digitally the button is gone for me
