Currently no fix for the “esc” issue in iPadOS 17 either (using Developer Beta 1 and Minecraft 1.20).

It seems like the fix will indeed need to come from Apple rather than Mojang. Since Mojang either can't fix this problem, or doesn't care.

For what it's worth, I reported this problem to Apple under the feedback number FB12272068.

Hello, so the iPadOS 17 Beta is now available. I tested this today with (Developer Beta 1) and unfortunately the problem with the “esc” key persists.

It seems like the fix will indeed need to come from Apple, since Mojang either can't or doesn't want to do anything about this problem.

For what it's worth, I reported this problem to Apple under the feedback number FB12272068.

The problem with the "esc" key still occurs in iPadOS 16.5 (using Minecraft 1.19.83).

@Kalani — Would you mind sharing what your iOS / iPadOS version is?

Yes, this is a known bug of Minecraft on iPadOS and has been for over 5 months.

It is currently tracked in MCPE-51263.

@WaxingGibbus83 — Well you'd be wrong. The "Full Keyboard gameplay" toggle has no effect on this bug. Plus, mine has always been disabled.

(By the way, I just tried updating the OS to 16.4.1, and lo and behold, the issue still isn't fixed!)

Another update which doesn't fix the iPad cursor lock bug (1.19.73).

It has been now 154 days since I first commented about this issue (October 29, 2022) no signs of activity or interest from the staff. Thanks team! /s

Bug still persists after updating to iPadOS 16.4 (using the game version 1.19.71).

Still affects 1.19.70.

Issue is NOT FIXED as of 1.19.63.

Version 1.19.62 does not fix the issue (using iPadOS 16.3.1).

The newly released version 1.19.60 still does not fix the issue — mice are still unusable on iOS & iPadOS 16.3. This is getting kind of ridiculous…

Updating to iOS & iPadOS 16.3 (which has come out today) does NOT fix the issue for me. The cursor still gets broken as soon as the "esc" button is pressed.

Still affects version 1.19.51 (on iPadOS 16.2)

The issue I described for 1.19.40 still applies for 1.19.41.

After entering a world for the first time, the mouse will control the camera normally, but as soon as a menu is opened (for example with the "esc" key), the mouse will never switch back to the gameplay mode anymore.

Mouse has become unusable again after I updated to iPadOS 16 (whereas on iPadOS 15 everything worked perfectly with the same setup).

Once I open a menu or inventory in the game, the cursor gets switched to ”normal” mode (where you can actually move it around and click stuff), but then after I close the menu, the cursor fails to ever switch back to “camera” mode again.

That is — the cursor remains visible, and it’s not locked on the center of the screen. So when I look around, I see the dot at all times and if I move it all the way to a side, I can perform system gestures like home screen swipe or opening control center /  notifications, making the game unplayable.

Edit: Below is a screen recording which shows the issue. Also the game version is 1.19.40.

Is this issue actively being solved or at least investigated? This is taking way too long.

Translations are poor and inconsistent for almost all languages in Bedrock. This is because private translators are hired to translate Bedrock, while Java is handled by the players themselves using Crowdin. There’s a feedback post to move the Bedrock translation to Crowdin as well: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360061727312-Minecraft-Bedrock-should-have-own-Crowdin-translation-project

Could this please be fixed already? It’s been over 4 months since the release of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 and this probably isn’t such a difficult fix. Thanks!
