I agreed. And by the way, I created that with 19w37a (my Issue marked as resolved because of duplication (to your issue)
"No other block does this in Minecraft" Except shulker boxes, but that makes sense for obvious reasons, where this doesn't as far as I can tell.
The beehives will drop themselves in creative because it saves the NBT data of the bees inside when broken. Its basically the same as mining a bee hive with Silk Touch in survival mode.
they should at least add some functionality to where if you hold a modifier key (like CTRL) it won't drop an item. it is rather annoying.

Well why doesn't chest, furnace, and other NBT blocks doesn't drop when broken?
I'd re open this issue and make it drop nothing. If someone want to get a block with NBT the person will use the ctrl middleclick like supposed to in creative mod.
I consider this a bug.
We have function to copy NBT data. If we want it we can get it. No need to drop the item.
How on earth is this Works As Intended? No other block does this in Minecraft. So basically if you're building in Creative mode all the bee blocks you break leave items all over the place and cause you to clean up the mess? Was this falsely labeled or misread? No way this is WAI.
