Some blocks/entities are rendered transparent when looking at them from certain angles

The bug

Some blocks/entities are rendered completely transparent when looking them from certain angles. This seems to occur whenever no other entities (not in the list below) are in the player's field of view, including behind walls.

Affected entities

  • Falling blocks (e.g. sand, anvils)

  • Primed TNT in the "bright" flashing stage

  • Empty item frame

Affected blocks

  • Chest

  • Ender Chest

  • Trapped Chest

  • Signs without any text

  • the book of an enchantment table

  • banners completely for one frame after placing and the wooden part always

  • pistons and piston heads while extending or retracting

  • end gateways (extremely offset)

  • end portals (extremely offset, sometimes outside of the screen)

  • bed

  • conduit

  • bell

To reproduce

  • Create a superflat "Void" world (or other world where no mobs can spawn)

  • Place affected blocks/entities

  • Place non-affected entities, signs with text or mob heads; or go in 3rd person view

Can confirm. It seems to occur whenever no other entities (not in the affected list) are in the player's field of view; I added my findings to the report.

Added some more information from MC-161863.

The breaking animations on blocks are also glitchy, this also counts to the water and lava animations

Affects Beds as well.

Can confirm this issue, it seems to effect all block entities.
