This doesn't happen in spectator mode as far as I can tell, but I get particles - related issue?

Particles is MC-174466.

An alternative to fixing this is removing the durability loss completely. It would completely fix MC-174464, MC-174522, and MC-174485. (Maybe it damages the player instead?)
