Explosions do not destroy surrounding blocks when the explosion source is centered inside of a blast resistant block

If an explosion is centered inside of an explosion proof block like bedrock or command block, the explosion will not destroy any surrounding blocks.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Place a command block down

  2. Enter the following command:

    summon tnt
  3. Power the command block

Expected Result:

Based off of the WAI status of MC-27077, the surrounding blocks would still be destroyed.

Observed Behavior:

The explosion does nothing and none of the surrounding blocks are destroyed.

Also happened to me. And mobGriefing was set to true. But if a player executes the command, it works.

Mob griefing shouldn’t affect whether tnt destroyes blocks or not.

It doesn't, but is should, tnt is technically an entity, so mob griefing should affect it

TNT is working as intended unfortunately MC-158483

I'm pretty sure this in intended, as the TNT technically explodes in the same block as the command blocks - command blocks are TNT resistant.

Can confirm in 20w48a.

Can confirm in 24w20a. I would like to request ownership of this report because 1. the issue has not been consistently maintained since 2021 by the original reporter, and 2. the information could be better clarified.

In my test, the blocks which are not destroyed are the ones which are level with the bedrock. This is not specifically outlined in the report's description:
