Turtle eggs only hatch on beach biome

Placing turtle eggs on sand ,in any biome other than Beach, make them unable to hatch.

I tested it on a new world, with a RandomTickSpeed of 5000, on a few different biome, containing naturally generated sand or not, near water or not, facing the ocean or not. Only in the beach Biome turtles eggs are hatching.

Cannot reproduce, I just hatched a turtlle in a desert. Remember that turtle eggs only hatch at night.

Is there any other conditions? I just tried in a desert too, and it hatch (at night), but in the plains biome nearby, on a manually placed patch of sand, still at night, nothing happens.

There are no references to biomes anywhere in this code. I really do not know why it'd relate to biomes.

fyi, there is another ticket about turtle eggs not hatching, reason unknown: MC-189686

Just tested this in 1.14.4 and 1.16-pre5, in a forest and a beach biome, with randomTickSpeed set to 3000. In the older version, turtles hatch fine under the right conditions (eggs placed on sand, during nighttime) in both biomes, in 1.16-pre5 they only hatch in the beach biome, eggs located in the forest remain inactive. This would confirm Jojopanis's observations.

After further testing I found that the issue is in fact not biome related, it is caused by the game checking for sand one block too deep. Made a new ticket with a better description and a screenshot with some examples: MC-189846.

MC-189611 as well as MC-189686 appear to be duplicates.

Yes, when confirming I tested first in a different biome with a single layer of sand and secondly on a normal beach which likely had several layers (first one not working, second one working).
