[MC-265178] No snowballs when the snow layers melts

Hi,

why there are no snowballs around when torch is placed in the snowy plains biome? In previous versions, snowballs were released whenever a layer of snow was melted by a placed torch. They no longer appear there.

It was a good thing to know that you can make things easier by collecting snowballs while making a path in the snow biome instead of shoveling the snow.

Never, they always required shovels to break snow in order to drop snowballs.

It occured in Snapshot 23w32a. I was creating a path using cobblestone slabs at the upper half of block. I wanted to make it so that the road is not covered with snow when it snows. So I needed torches as a heat source to place them near.
