Creepers make no attempt to get as close as possible to the Player to explode

Creepers no longer walk while you are in their radius rate. Like, if you stay AFK, and a creeper approaches, it will just stay at the farthest possible range and then explode, instead of coming as close as possible and then explode. This causes alot less damage. It would only be able to kill you if you would be injured already, and so far there likely is no "mining when suddenly sssh BOOM. Death.", as you likely would have full health when mining.

I wondered the last time when a creeper blew up behind me, why I took almost no damage.

I just tested this in a new world and it's true.

Can confirm. Spawning a creeper and letting it approach, then detonate, resulted in 0.5 heart of damage.

Made a clearer title.

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w32d? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I have no comparison to other versions, but in 14w34d:
Letting a creeper approach, then detonate on Normal difficulty with no armor on killed me (had full health).
Letting a creeper approach, then detonate on Normal difficulty with full diamond armor on (and full health) dealt 2 hearts of damage to me.

Can no longer reproduce in 1.8.

I wouldn't describe this as "fixed" in modern versions. Creepers regularly blow up when out of range of the player.
