Minecart/Activator Dismount Location is Inconsistent in Cardinal Directions

When dismounting from a minecart or using activator rails in the North/West directions you get ejected forward; however, in the South/East directions you get ejected backwards (as I think should be the case). See the green spaces in the default case screenshot for where you get ejected currently.

There is further inconsistencies to which side you get ejected on between the N/W and S/E directions. They should probably all be made consistent (red wool in default case screenshot if South is the primary/correct one).

Things get further inconsistent with walls in the way which causes issues like MC-1489 (I've teleported through glass panes this way), where in some cases you eject on the track (which is good), but not always (especially in the north case as in the 'blocked case' screenshot). Not sure if this means it is also related to MC-36482. It seems like if you can't eject off the track, you should eject on the track behind the activator rail.

North is up in all screenshots - attached my test world as well (which shows minecart ejection is the same as activators and that the same issue occurs if the activator is powered by detection rail or not).

Have a video that shows the issue at 17:45 - http://youtu.be/0It-p8F88BM?t=17m45s

You can see me in the North direction jump through the glass as I'm getting kicked forward.

The return trip in the Southern direction works fine at 18:30 - http://youtu.be/0It-p8F88BM?t=18m30s

Thanks

This is still current in 14w18a, as far as I can see. I am loving the activator rail dismount, but consistent behavior would be very welcome.

Can we get an update to the affected version please? It impacts 14w20a and 14w20b.

migrated

Yup, still effects the latest version.

players always get ejected to the north west spot, it's entities like mobs and armorstands that have different places which should always be on the same spot as well in. btw your picture isn't acurate for 1.8 anymore!

Pascal, that's the problem though. Players should be ejected at different spots as well. You don't want to have to change the design of your build based on what direction you build it in the world, but in relation to the tracks you're building it on.

I'll have to look at the screenshot and try with mobs, but ideally everything should just eject the same way based on the direction of track/movement and not the orientation in the world.

as requested by mod kumasasa my information to the matter the picture i took was in version 1.8, players always get ejected to the n-w (green) but entities have 2 different spots depending on their way of travel (yellow). i have the north also in the north in this picture.

This bug is extremely annoying. I'am almost done constructing a lift system for multiplayer using minecarts und carefully tested the directions to build it in the right way. It always worked fine until i decided to change the location of the whole lift. So I copied it with world edit. Same direction, no rotation, flip, or anything. And It always didn't work.

So I did some research. I'm not done yet but I can tell that it's extremely random. Meaning: If I build it at one spot it seems to always work/work not the same way. So the direction is related to the spot. If I then copy my device to another spot without rotating it, same direction in which I drive onto the rail, same rotation, as before, but still: different results. Almost seems like the way, the lily pad direction works in minecraft. The actual driving direction itself doesn't seem to matter.

I also created a single player flatworld, teleporting me to coordinates 0,5,0 then marking the x=0 z=0 position and building rails in all the four quadrants. Every quadrant showed a different behavior. But as I mentiond before, there are more factors and I got different behavior within the four quadrants on different worlds as well.

Conclusion: This is definetly a shitty implementation.
I will try to use pistons in order to push players, so it doesn't matter, how the direction works.
Just tested the map in 1.8.6., still not fixed. Its over a year and still not fixed, extremely poor work, sry I have to say it that harsh but that's what I think right now.

Dismounting location is now predictable.
Entities will dismount from vehicules (boats, minecarts, horses) by the right side relative to the motion of the vehicule.
If the right side is unavailable, the other potential locations will be tested in this order :
Right, Left, Back Right, Back Left, Front Right, Front Left, Back, Front.

This means that 2 minecarts travelling along the same line, but in different direction will dismount on the right and left side of the track, respectivly. To get both sides to dismount to the same location, one of the sides need to be blocked via a block.

Another side effect of the fix is that entities will dismount in the middle of the target block, and not on the edge anymore, like previously.

PS : This issue should be solved in 15w39a but doesn't appear in the changelog because I closed the ticket too late.

Fix version is actually 15w39a.

migrated

I don't believe this is fixed.
Snapshot 15w39c ejects to the same direction that the minecart is heading rather than to the sides as would be expected.

Anthony Barlow: If it's on a server, are you sure the server is up to date? Please provide screenshots of your setup.
