You can get outside of the worldborder by mounting a rideable entity (boat, pig, etc.) outside of it

The bug

You can mount entities which are outside of the worldborder.

How to reproduce

  1. Spawn a ridable entity, such as a boat, some blocks away from you

    /summon boat ~10 ~ ~
  2. Center the worldborder on you

    /worldborder center ~ ~
  3. Set the worldborder size to not contain the ridable entity anymore

    /worldborder set 14
  4. Try to mount the entity

still in 18a, but now you need to set up the track before bringing in the border.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.

Confirmed for 1.8.3.

SunCat

Can confirm for 1.14.2.

Something worth noting:

A player can also place a boat right on the block the worldborder is on.
They can then get inside the boat and drive it right through the world border.
This essentially allows any player who is able to build and has a boat, to go through the world border.
