Ive noticed this while exploring a Mesa in 14w32a. It seems to be mostly around the sides of hills and its basically just these chunks of mesa (dimensions of around 5x5x5) which are just missing, haven't generated.
Clearly visible in the screenshots provided.

umm... no not caused by curvy landscape, theres clearly a missing piece of mesa in the screenshots i provided, if that was filled with clay it would look more like a curvy landscape frankly
What Kumasasa means is that basically, if the voxels in Minecraft were smaller, you wouldn't notice what you're seeing. The resolution of the algorithmically generated terrain contours is much finer than the fat blocks that Minecraft uses. In the attached image, the red lines are the mathematical slopes of the mesa terrain.
Might just be a duplicate of/related to MC-41414, but at least it's reported.
Coordinates and Seed please.
