Existing/Old chests are invisible

Can confirm.

When loading a world and joining a server, this happens. F3 + A fixes this temporarily, however, when you join a server and load a world this happens again.

All antique chest is transparent unless you put another chest next .. and new to save and re-enter chests are also transparent ...

In single player f3+A does nothing for me, the chests are still invisible. Might be different on servers though.

Chests will appear if they are opened, and then updated somehow.

Will disappear after logging out and in.

Confirmed. I loaded 14w32b and my chests disappeared, reverted back to 14w32a and they reappeared.

I tried placing chests down in 14w32b and they appear fine when placed but after I log out and then back in again they disappear.

Confirmed, existing chests, including the singles and doubles, unknown for Trapped or Ender, are invisible. After a short while, they become visible again, but after a relog, once again, invisible.

I can confirm Mark Loya's observation - my invisible chests became visible after a while.

• For me they became visible after I open them and F3 + A

• Doesn't affects Enderchests for me

Confirmed in SMP for chests, trapped chests, and ender chests.

It is a bit strange. I backed out of this version to the previous snapshop. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon.

A little work around, and interesting result: if you open all your chests and use F3+A (reload chunks) OR F3+T (reload textures) they will reappear instead of having to block update each one.

I would have expected them to disappear again due to the reloading.

@Joshua, this doesn't seem to work for me (on local multiplayer server). The chunks reload, but the chests are still gone.

Weird, I ALSO just realized - open all of your chests, look away then look back... boom they are there? haha very weird activity here.

Chests are invisable before player open it (in Survival)

The fix that was mentioned by bug report MC-66004 worked for me, but only on some of the chests. Im not sure if the direction matters with the fix, as I think the chests that did not get fixed were facing a different direction than that of the ones that were getting fixed. I tried a creative mode test in a superflat world and found this out:

-After Death, all chests will go invisible (trapped and normal) but ender chests seem to stay
-After opening the chests you wish to load, providing a single block update anywhere in the chest's chunk.
--Even works if block update is outside the chunk that the chest is in
-The chest MUST be opened at least once before you provide a block update to get it to render.

Specifics of the test:
-I had 3 separate chunks, one for ender, one for trapped, and one for normal chests marked out that were non adjacent.
-None of the 3 chunks were the spawn chunk
-In each chunk:
--I had each chest placed in every direction (North/South/East/West).
--I had every chest placed in every way possible (double, single).
--I had the chunk border marked in andestite.
--I had a block of granite placed below each chest (to be able to locate on reload).

I hope this test was useful to someone, and if you would like me to preform the test again and record it, I can, just request it, and I will post it to youtube.

Confirmed. We are generating maps using pymclevel and are getting this. These maps worked fine in previous snapshots.

Confirmed. I'm also having this issue.

Confirmed. The save hasn't been opened since 14w31a, and it took me a moment to realize the chests were still there. After opening and closing some of the outlines, they seem to render normally. Others remain invisible. Ender chests are not affected.

This is happening to me too, but if I open a chest, walk away a bit then come back, it's visible again. Reloading the world does nothing to help, reloading the client makes them all invisible again. Not just chests either, the book off the enchanting table is gone too. Particles from bookshelves still fly into the table though. Hoping this can be fixed soon.

If you open an invisible chest and press F3+A the chest is visible again.

Patience is what fixes this bug. Patience until Mojang releases a new Snapshot.

Armor stands may also be affected by this - in addition to the book on enchantment tables.

Copying world back to 14w32a makes all chests visible again.

Even though its fixed, if you're in a snapshot where its broken, open and close the chest, then do F3+A to refresh the chunks. 😉

Affects 1.8.1-pre4, please reopen.

@unknown's workaround is ineffective, as is relogging. Relaunching the Minecraft client fixed it for me.

This happened to me in 1.9.1-pre3. F3+A didn't help, I had to exit the game (not only the world), that fixed it for now.

I am experiencing this in 1.9. Relogging into the server, restarting the client, nothing seems to work.
Edit: Was not an issue with specific chests, the textures as a whole were not loaded, IE, blank squares for chests in inventory.

I tried loading a resource pack. Minecraft crashed, I restarted it with more memory, and the issue was gone. Removed the pack and it was still fine.

my chests arent showing either how do i get it to work?
