So I only started having this glitch today but when I tried to upload a new skin it said "that's not a Minecraft skin silly." I was confused because I downloaded it from a website for skins and it had the exact template. So I thought maybe that skin was bugged so I tried different skins over and over and none of them worked. So I thought maybe all the new skins I got were bugged so I went to one I downloaded a few months ago that worked back then and that one was bugged too. Still not convinced I tried to reupload the exact custom skin I had on for a week or so and it said that was also not a Minecraft skin. So I know it's not a problem with the skins cause I was wearing it for over a week and still have it on. I think Minecraft isn't able to detect any real skins right now. I can also add a picture of when I uploaded the skin I had on and it still said it wasn't a skin.

Its very easy If you want a custom skin download it from Planet Minecraft Planet Minecraft Skins
Press This link .And there are two options one is classic and one is thin .Remember Custom Skins are always jumbled.

Already know how to upload a skin :l after a few days of having them downloaded they just stop working that’s the problem. I downloaded more and they worked for 3 days and then broke again.

Check that the resolution of the skin image is either 64x64 or 128x128
32x64 will not work

BigChungus21220 I've checked the skin resolution and it's 64x64 + it's a .png but still not working. This has to be a Minecraft bug.

It is a 64 x 64 image & yes, it's a .png image bc mc just support.png images when it comes to skins

The iOS photos app will give .jpeg files not .png files.

Sorry, Again I'm using Android 13 device.
For some reason I'm using a 64x64 & .png image.
I guess I can't do anything just suffer & wait 'till mojang fix it

This is still an issue on 1.19.73.02.
I am using a Google Pixel 6 Pro running Android 13 (March security update).
The skin I am trying to use is a 64x64 PNG, attached. I am able to upload and use it without trouble on Java Edition.

You should try downloading an alternate gallery app, i did that and I could use a skin.

@HNrrep5810 When pressing the button to select a skin, Minecraft opens Android's default file picker, "DocumentsUI". There is no option to select any other file picker.

@unilock it does show up alt gallery apps for me.

I'm having the same problem, I've downloaded other galleries like Google (I could never open because it only lets me open default gallery of the cell phone, I use a POCO X3 GT MIUI 14 Android 13), I downloaded the skin again from different pages, including the well-known Name MC, it is PNG format. 64X64 and still the problem still appears, the version of Minecraft I use now is 1.19.81.01.
This error only happens in the mobile version, in the Windows version it works correctly

Affects 1.20.0.23 Preview

I had this problem too. They changed what was a minecraft skin. The way I fixed it was redownload the skins with a transparent background. The ones with white backgrounds don’t work anymore and require a transparent background.

Affects in 1.19.83

Affects in 1.20.10.20 Preview

Affects 1.20.0.24 Beta/Preview and affects 1.20.0.25 Beta/Preview.

Affects 1.20.10.21

Affects 1.20.0.1 (Full Release)

Affect 1.20

Dawg check if your skin is a 32-bit .PNG picture and not 24-bit. 24-bit images don't support transparency

Same problem here. 64x64 8 bit png. I tried converting it to 32 bit, but still the same error

Might be problem with external storage permission

Can confirm, this is still a bug. None of my skins are working either. They're all appropriate size and old skins do not work either.

Still doing as of the new update a few days ago

Still happening even after the 1.20.10.01 50 community bugs fix

Alright guys so I found a way to bypass this a little so for me skin packs still work with mc I can still download.mcpack files and import them into Minecraft to use those skins. If this works for you take the skins you want to use and go to this site
https://cdsmythe.com/minecraftskins2/
And make your own Minecraft skin pack so you can use your skin I hope this helped some of you

Thanks May Valateri it works
For those who don't know how to import the skin after have downloaded the skinpack file from the link given by May Valateri u need to rename the Name.mcpack.zip to Name.mcpack and open it in Minecraft

Confirmed that this is still a bug on Android (Pixel 6), running 1.20.12 Hotfix.
For those still experiencing the issue on Android, could you please attempt to use a different gallery app to choose the skin? That might be an issue that we can't fix, but is resolved by choosing a different app to open and choose a custom skin.

I've done everything, change apps, download old versions of Minecraft but nothing works.. I just wanted to play skin again.

Changing the app worked for me. I normally use Google Photos, which gives me this error, but tried the Samsung's default gallery app and it worked. By the way, the skin was stored in the phone's memory, not on the cloud.
Thank you for your report!
We were unable to reproduce the problem you are describing in the latest version. If you are having issue with a skin it's worth double checking that it meets the requirements for a valid Minecraft skin.
Also, we're going to be investigating and tracking the issue for Android at MCPE-170910, which might be related to the specific gallery app being used to open a skin file on Android specifically.

Affects 1.20.51, but only on my phone. I have tried Cx File Explorer, Gallery (default android) and Photos (Google) to select the file, silly game.
The same skin is working without any problems on Windows 10 Bedrock & Java

@unknown Please go to MCPE-170910 for Android devices that not have asking storage permission, This resolved ticket is for IOS Only.

this is still an issue with 1.20.73. i have a 64x64 skin, with a transparent background, as .png. i am running the Windows Edition of minecraft bedrock, and it has no issues with some of my other skins. i us

I'm seeing this problem on Window 11 too now. The only workaround is to make your own skin pack, and use that instead.
