Nether portal crashes game at certain coordinates

I built a nether portal on the coordinates 891, 63, 1038. As soon as i entered it, the game crashed. I tried again. Same results. I had to travel thousands of blocks to get to my home base, to find that that portal actually works. The seed is 936459506. I am providing the seed because all of my other worlds, Creative or survival have the nether portals working at this location. Please fix this in the next Hotfix or Minor update.

What is your device and render distance setting?
How long did you wait on the Generating World screen?

I tried the seed and coordinates provided (assuming those are overworld coordinates) on my iPhone 8 with render distance set to maximum 16 chunks, and it loaded the nether after 24 seconds on the Generating World screen. During that time there was no loading bar and the game appeared to be frozen. This is the world I used:

When I reduce render distance to 10 the nether loads from those coordinates in about half the time.

Sorry I was sleeping, Render distance was set to 48 On the Apple iPad Pro. I tried reducing it to 12 chunks, but same thing. As soon as i enter the portal, after the animation ends, the game crashes, and it kicks me out. If this helps, there was a glitched drowned that had two heads. It had been near at the time.

Thank you for your report!

However, this issue has been temporarily closed as Awaiting Response.

Does the crash occur every single time upon attempting to enter the portal? If yes, does killing the glitched Drowned help fix the issue?

The "glitched drowned with two heads" is probably just a herd spawn. Drowned spawn in herds of 2-4, and herds spawn with all of the mobs at the exact same position (MCPE-66319). It's obviously a red-herring since I was able to reproduce a problem with coming through a the nether portal at the coordinates stated on iOS. I just don't have an iPad, and iPads have a bigger problem with rendering in recent versions (MCPE-106349).

Hi

Does this issue still occur after updating to 1.17.11? If so, can you please record and upload it here as attachment?

GoldenHelmet

11 seconds to load nether, 14 seconds to load overworld from portal in the test world on iPhone 8 with 16 chunks (max) render distance. So it’s better than it was in 1.16.221. I can’t speak for iPad.
