Minecraft updated itself on my Xbox today, and it is now so slow and lag ridden it is almost unplayable. Animations are insanely slow, the villagers almost do not move, neither do the monsters.

Me too. My game is exactly like this

Same for me. Extremely frustrating and unplayable

Same broski. It's annoying

Does this only happen in the area of the world where you first loaded after the update?
(Looks like about 1-2 tps, or 500-1000 mspt.)

After I updated the game, and created a new world,it was laggy. I hadn't had the problem before,so I reinstalled it and still had the same issue.

had this happen in a world with a ton of villagers in one area. just tested it in creative and i was able to slow the game down after spawning a ton of villagers and giving them jobs. and the game became unplayable after placing and ringing a bell.

@GoldenHelmet
not op but it's happening in both a new world i created to look at the new update and also in my main world that i've has since 1.16 . for me new and old chunks are both affected

Is this only happening near villagers who have jobs, then?

It gets a lot worse when near my villagers, all of whom have jobs and are locked in. dropping items or trying to mine blocks in that area will disappear and will take about 30-50 seconds before appearing. i've gone several chunks away from that area and the issue is still present but less so.

There wasn't an issue before 1.20.30 so this is definitely new and everybody has the same problem

Same to me. It's impossible to play!

What Raboy said, this wasn't an issue until 1.20.30 came out. Before 1.20.30, mining blocks, hitting monsters, taking damage was working correctly, the way they would be. However, since the 1.20.30 update, there seems to be somewhere between a small and large delay in mining blocks, hitting monsters, and taking damage.
This is a very bad bug because of there's a delay in the monsters and in taking damage, the game (and you) don't know how much damage you're being taken, neither know how much damage you're giving.

Check out my report at MCPE-175100 for more information and a temporary fix for this! It has something to do with villagers interacting and moving.

Thanks everyone for providing your insights. We are going to track the lag caused by villagers at MCPE-175100, so will be resolving this report as a duplicate and handling linked reports about other kinds of lag separately.

It's not caused by the VIllager lag?

im not sure if there's some other issue causing lag for others, but for me it seems like large amounts of villagers are the only thing thats giving any lag. jobless villagers dont seem to cause as much lag, but they still cause a bit of it when going to a bed from it being night or ringing a bell.
idk if hardware has anything to do with this lag, but i need a fair amount of villagers (about 20+ or more) before any sort of noticeable lag starts, and its only when a villager is pathfinding to something.
oh and i only get this lag when near the villagers. both on a survival world and this creative world that im testing on, walking away from them causes the lag to go away when the game finally catches up.

The lag is being caused by pretty much all entities when they're targeting or being targeted, although villagers are the most prominent cause.

This bug is not fixed yet! I'm on Bedrock PS4, 1.20.31. See: MCPE-175564
