You cannot use the same microsoft account on 2 different devices to play LAN anymore

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Own both Minecraft Bedrock for Windows and a 2nd device with bedrock

  2. Start a game on Minecraft Bedrock for Windows

  3. Sign into the same account on the 2nd device (same LAN/WiFi)

  4. Join the LAN game from the 2nd device

Expected behavior (through 26.3):

Windows player shows up as “username”

2nd device player shows up as “username (2)”

Actual behavior (26.10):

Windows player shows up as “username”

You get error code Blaze

Just got the new update. Keep getting a blaze error. No new logins or new authenticator. But it does mention in the support that blaze error could mean multiple logins using the same profile.

I better not have bought a license for bedrock, and a licence for windows on the same profile and had them previously working together so i can play with my kids only for ya’ll to change it later. How many times do i need to buy this game just to play it?

This report does not have enough information for us to understand and reproduce the problem.

At what point are you getting the error?

What do you mean by a “license for bedrock”? The license is based on the type of “device”, (Windows, Xbox, Android, etc).

What kinds of devices are you using, how are you connecting, etc?

As explained in the instructions on the bug reporting page, when describing your bug, please include the following information in the Description section:

  • Expected result

  • Actual result

If you are using any add-ons, be sure to include the name and creator of each of them.

Videos and screenshots are also helpful, especially if the issue is a “visual” one.

Can confirm (came from MCPE-237415), Affects 26.10 using Windows to iOS, and iOS to iOS.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Make sure you have 2 devices with the same Microsoft Account, and has connected to the same Wi-Fi network

  2. With Minecraft open on the first device, click Play

  3. Open a world with multiplayer enabled

  4. With Minecraft open on the second device, click Play

  5. Join the LAN World hosted by the first device

Expected result: The second device should join (and third and beyond if any)

Observed result: The second device gets kicked with “An error occurred“, Blaze error (just because it was linked to the same Microsoft Account).

Workaround: Sign out of the Microsoft Account on other devices so only one of them uses it.

I also noticed it happening between ipad and pc, and between ipad and another ipad. Initial connection 44 is the error it shows regardless of the platform

I am having the same issue. Prior to 26.10 update I have been playing on both PC and IOS using the same Microsoft account on LAN hosted by the PC. Upon the IOS device joining it would be given the username(1) tag.

Post 26.10 update, attempting to join the LAN world on IOS results in the “Blaze” error code. Even when signing out of the Microsoft account on IOS and signing into a different Microsoft account on IOS the same issue persists.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. 2 Devices, 1 on PC, 1 on IOS, signed into the same Microsoft Account, on the same Wifi, running version 26.10

  2. PC device loads a world, available on LAN

  3. IOS devices attempts to join LAN world

Expected result:

IOS device joins PC device’s world via LAN, given the Username(1) tag, with seperate inventory. IOS device can freely leave and re-join world, maintaining inventory.

Observed result:

IOS device cannot join PC LAN world, presented with “Blaze” error code. (see attatched, image 1)

Image 1, IOS screenshot of “blaze” error code presented upon attempting to join PC LAN world whilst both devices are signed into the same Microsoft account

Workaround:

None, even after signing into a different Microsoft account on the IOS device, attempting to join the PC LAN world is unsuccessful, given the same “Blaze” error code (see attatched, image 2).

Image 2, IOS screenshot of “Blaze” error code presented upon attempting to join PC LAN world after signing out of the Microsoft account shared by the PC device and re-signing into a different Microsoft account on the IOS device.

Further attempts to workaround:

I have on several occasions signed out of the microsoft account on both devices, restarted both devices, restarted Wifi and Checked firewall settings on PC for Issues. I am at a loss for issues on my user side that could be causing this.

Workaround: on one device, sign out of your account and then restart Minecraft. This allowed me to LAN connect from iPhone to PC.

The change that is making this workaround necessary to join a LAN world is incomprehensible, because LAN connection doesn't even use the MS account! It is just Microsoft engaging in cumbersome gatekeeping for no purpose. Indeed, it’s practically a privacy violation, because the game shouldn’t even be checking your sign-in status for a LAN connection.
