Cannot hold down Mine button to harvest multiple crops at once

Problem: When harvesting a crop, pressing (A)/Mine will only harvest the closest block. So for example if there is a row of sugar cane and you stand at the end, you will only harvest the closest plant and must re-press the button to harvest the next plant, and so on.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Stand at the end of a row of tall crops at least 5 plants deep, facing down the row (2- or 3- height sugar cane works well for testing)

2. With any tool/block in hand, or an empty hand, press and hold the Mine button

Expected Behavior: you mine each crop block in front of you, continuously (or possibly instantly, as it was in console edition) until 5 blocks away have been mined/broken

Actual Behavior: you mine the closest block only, and then the mining/breaking action stops until you release and re-press the Mine button.

I'm having the same issue on W10 beta 1.2

Also affects vines. If you hit a vine with an axe it will break, but the axe will not then continue to chop at the tree. You have to release and re-pull the trigger.

Downloaded MCPE for iOS and this bug does not occur there. Can continuously mine crops and vines/trees.

Same on Windows 10 Beta.
I did some quick testing. Here's what I found. I tried both a controller and keyboard/mouse.

In survival...

  • On any instant breaking block (grass, crops, shrubs, flowers, mushrooms, etc.), the game performs the "punching/hitting" action exactly once and stops. You need to let go of the mouse/trigger and re-press it before breaking anything else.

  • For any non-instant breaking block (grass, stone, wood, leaves, etc.), the game behaves as expected. You continue breaking blocks when you hold down the trigger.

In creative, it behaves generally as expected. You break all blocks instantly at the exact same (albeit somewhat slow) rate while holding down the trigger. It doesn't matter if it's a dandelion or bedrock. Works the same.

Same problem. Android 7.0
Samsung Galaxy S6

Still a bug in 1.2.3 on iOS

I am playing on iPhone 6. Minecraft 1.2.5 and I noticed that harvesting crops works fine on a creative easy world on my phone but is still broken on my realm. My realm is set to easy survival.

I still experience this problem on Xbox One in my Realm.

Using a sword has seemed to help me when doing this.
