No Slimes

Since the new version of minecraft has come to the Xbox One, I have yet to be able to find any slimes mobs anywhere on survival mode. Has anyone else had this same issue? Am I perhaps just looking in the wrong places? I spent weeks in a swamp biome and never encountered a single slime. Ever world I load/create is like this.

I have noticed the same thing I have a slime farm in 3 slime chunks that haven't produced a single slime since upgrading to 1.2.6. I play on iPad prod

migrated

Can confirm that since the last update, Slimes have stopped spawning... again!

migrated

I've noticed the same thing in swamp biomes, which I've spent a lot of time in over the last couple of days. Suspiciously devoid of slimes.

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

I can see slimes spawning, but their rate seems a lot lower than it should be (especially compared to Java).

migrated

In 1.2.6.2 beta my slime farm was producing 500 slime/hour.

Once I updated to the release version of 1.2.6 my slime farm now doesn't spawn any slimes. If I go to peaceful then back to hard mode 1-3 slimes will spawn then back to nothing.

migrated

Can also confirm that slimes are rarely spawning in slime chunks and swamps as of the new update. Maybe 1-2 in a long while, but no more.

migrated

My main base is on the edge of a swamp biome where it meets an extreme hills biome so I'm used to being pestered by slimes, But now, nada. Not a single one.

migrated

It's not just slime it's all the mobs.

migrated

No slimes spawning for me either. Doesnt work in slimes chunks nor in swamps. Xbox 1

migrated

1.2.7 did NOT fix this issue. Still no slimes in slime chunks below lvl 40, and no slimes in swamps @ low light between lvls 50 and 70.

migrated

It seems due to a bug (most likely MCPE-21856) slimes has so low spawn rates, that they only spawn if almost no other mob spawns around them.
And something seems to be also wrong with the light level check. I was able to spawn slimes only on minimum (0) and maximum (15) light level. On the minimum light level, other hostile mobs made slime spawning very rare. On maximum light level, on daylight, they spawned just fine together with horses, and underground on glowstone they also spawned. Torches with light level 14 seemed to be not enough for them.

[media]

[media]

So it seems both the spawn rates and the light check is broken.

I've been playing in a world and explored all over for some kind of slime spawning location, but I haven't seen a single slime yet (and it's been almost a year since I started playing this edition). It's really feeling like this is a bug that hasn't been fixed yet.

migrated

I've had some success with slimes. If it is in a slime chunk, the trick is to block off sky access. If there are any spots that are below light level 15, they need to spawn on solid stone (I've tried everything from cobblestone to diorite, and solid stone works the best). In swamps, they only spawn during a full moon. They won't be everywhere, but you'll eventually find them.

I do agree that the spawn rates should be increased. Slime is necessary for sticky pistons, which is an essential component to redstone. Not having access to a decent amount of slime limits the gameplay experience for people who enjoy the redstone aspect of the game.

migrated

It's not just you. I've spent hours in swamp biomes looking for a single slime so I could make leads to populate a farm in a new realm I just started in. I finally had to borrow a couple of slime balls from another player.

And don't get me started on how long it took me to find a pair of cows.

migrated

On my server, I'm creating a 3-chunk slime farm using adjacent slime chunks. So far we are down below Y:40, but hadn't noticed any slime spawns. However, last night I came down one level and found a pocket of zombies (they were spawning at the top of a stream and being pushed into one area). I killed them all and lit up the area they were spawning in, and I immediately was getting a LOT of slime spawns.

So my suggestion is to make sure you light up the area. If anything other than slime spawn, they take up the mob cap and slime are less likely to spawn. If you are looking for them in a swamp, light up the swamp. Also, they only spawn in swamps during a full moon.

migrated

I also cannot find any slimes. I have been searching for weeks. Constantly checking swamp biomes and slime chunks. The only way i can get slimes to spawn is if i go to a flat world.... which doesnt help. I play on the better together update on xbox one.

**Update
I waited until full moon while in a swamp, 1 large slime spawned right at the beginning, gave me 9 slime balls in total, no more spawned at all. This needs to be fixed....

migrated

I've had literally the exact same experience as Eddie Smith. Got one shingle large slime during a full moon and not another one. I've been sitting next to an iron golem farm i've built in the swamp biome that it spawned in for 4 hours now and zero. I understand they're only going to spawn in a swamp biome during a full moon, but if that's the case than they should spawn more than a single one....

migrated

They don’t only spawn on full moons in swamps, they just spawn the MOST on full moons, and not at all on new moons. It appears however that the Xbox one edition is broken for slimes. I’ve dug our 4 slime chunks, made 6 iron golem farms in 2 different swamps, and after about a total of 4 hours over the course of weeks, I’ve gotten about 34 slime balls. It’s absolutely ridiculous. What sucks even more is they just updated it the other day and fixed nothing regarding the slimes. They did fix the wither skeleton issue though which gives me hope that this will be addressed soon. I think everyone that’s had this issue is sick and tired of the “light up surrounding caves, they don’t spawn on new moons” answer.

migrated

My base is in a swamp. I'm used to being pestered by slimes. But they're not spawning, not since I transferred my world from the xbone version to the Glitchy Together edition

migrated

My world isn't a swamp biome but before the update they would spawn at a certain location.

Auldrick

People with this issue might want to look at my comment in MCPE-30413. I had no trouble spawning slimes in a swamp at midnight under a full moon, as long as I controlled the number of other mobs being spawned and competing for room under the mob cap.

migrated

But what would you suggest for people that are not playing in a swamp biome? In my world, I had slimes spawning at below level
40 but after the update, they've stopped. Reading your comment, in MCPE-30413, do I have to remove all the levels to expose where they use to spawn? Lol

migrated

I am affected by this issue with no slimes.

Please let us know when we can expect a fix here. I have tried in multiple new worlds, from multiple clients. I have yet to see a single slime anywhere.

Auldrick

@Richard Larocque: I didn't mean to imply that I had a solution, only a demonstration that slime spawning isn't completely broken. Knowing that might help encourage some people to keep at it until they find a workaround that everybody could benefit from. Now, if you were to dig down to level 40 as an experiment (probably in a Creative copy), that would be an example of what I'm talking about. You might discover that your slimes come back, and that would be valuable information for me and others trying to get slime in our worlds, as well as a clue for the developers trying to figure out why it doesn't happen aboveground. But if you don't want to spend the time and effort experimenting, you can just wait until somebody else does or the devs figure it out on their own.

@Dustin Wehmeyer: The devs are studying this issue and will fix it as soon as they can. It's not really possible to know how long it will take, any more than you can know how long it will take to walk from point A to point B when you don't have a map to follow. The only way is to explore until you spot point B in the distance, and by then you're practically there anyway so the answer can't come early enough to be helpful.

migrated

Thanks for the feedback Auldrick.

I did build multi level platform 'farm' spaces from level 10 in multiple known slime chunks. No slimes ever spawned. My wife found ONE slime in a swamp biome while in creative mode. Switching to a non-creative mode copy, no slimes ever appeared again in that same swamp. I've tried switching to peaceful mode and back to normal and saw no changes. I've tried leaving the vicinity (1000+ blocks) of the area I'm looking for slimes in, and coming back. No slimes. I've had to resort to just cheating, which sucks.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but I have tried the following:
Android with local world and with a realm.
Windows 10 PC with a local world and a realm.
XBox One with a local world and a realm.

In the above cases, the realm was always the same realm, and world on that realm. The local worlds were all independent newly created local worlds (not copies of other worlds).

@Auldrick

I have a slime chunk inside of a 50 x 50 hole that I dug to bedrock. I know it's a slime chunk because I have seen slime in it about 6 to 8 months ago. Right if I go back to it there's no slime at all. So it's definitely broken. Slime should spawn on a regular basics in a slime chunk especially right on bedrock.

AND

It's not just slime but all mobs spawning that is broken

migrated

[Premise, almost hostile mobs around players are killed]
In my verification, when multi players log in the same world, slime spawning stop.
Next, all other players left and just only one player stay in the world, slime is spawning back again.

migrated

I think this is also affecting in windows 10 edition

migrated

It is the same on mine whether multiple players or not

migrated

I'm on Windows 10 and have dug out two slime chunks and spent multiple nights in the swamp. After 100 hours of play, only two slimes have spawned.

Looks like 1.2.10 might have a fix for this.

"Increased the spawn rate of slimes"

migrated

I've got a three slime-chunk farm. As I was digging it, there were a bunch of slime. After completing the farm there is not a single spawn. Luckily the amount of slime I got from digging the farm has been sufficient thus far, but it is annoying to do all that work for no continued production. I wonder if there is a limit to the amount of slime that can spawn within a spawn chunk.

And this also continues with the latest update.

migrated

Add 1.2.10 to the affected versions.... The change log claimed they fixed this but I still have zero slimes spawning. This is a game breaking bug that needs to be fixed ASAP. I can't build anything I want to build without sticky pistons. I'll be forced to cancel my realm subscription if this isn't fixed before the renewal in 9 days.

migrated

1.2.10 is not include 1.2.10 build 1 features.
so,1.2.10 doesnt fixed this bug.

Built a slime farm yesterday not knowing there was issue with slimes spawning. I also found a few slimes while making it but now they never spawn just like Joseph said. I've been looking all over the internet for solutions and made some creative worlds to test slime spawning within slime chunks. What I found is the only way I can get slimes to spawn is to expose them to sky light like (https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-30413). This means you would have to dig out all the blocks above a slime chunk just for slimes to spawn on one floor of a farm. This should really be fixed.

migrated

@Eric Farley, in order to get my slime farm to produce slimes I had to set my world to peaceful and then back to hard to clear out all mobs. I had not had a single slime in over 100 hours of play. After setting to peaceful and back to hard I was able to get a few slimes trickling in (still a very slow rate) and collected about 4 stacks of slime balls in about 4 hours. I should also note that I did not leave the area during this time because I didn't want to load mobs in other chunks. I also had to be above level 31 for them to spawn on the one platform at level 6.

migrated

Can confirm this is an issue on Kindle Fire, 1.2.10, vanilla (no mods). The only place I can find a slime is in a swamp, and that is very rare. In previous versions, had lots of slimes in my dark mineshaft rooms. I have not been able to produce any.

migrated

Spawn rate in swamps has improved as of 1.2.13 (albeit after a 30 minute wait for the first to spawn) but is still considerably lower than Java edition

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

Resolving this specific issue as fixed - there are still some existing more general spawning issues, please refer to ticket MCPE-21856.

migrated

as of 1.4.2 this bug still exists on the xbox one slimes do not exist at all without using a spawn egg

migrated

On 1.5.0 I've cleared out 4 slime chunks (got them from ChunkBase and extension.ws/minecraft/slimes.html) from bedrock up 4 blocks. The area is well lit.

But I've yet to see a single slime spawn in any of these chunks over several days.

This bug is still an issue. 😞

migrated

1.5.2 problem still exists. Not one, period. This needs to be properly addressed

If course no mob farm works period, spawns are cheap(to appease those tablet users who only pay 7.99 for it, while the rest of us pay 20+)

migrated

Agreed, this is not fixed.  On my bedrock edition realm, I get no spawns in slime chunks, at all, not after days of AFK attempts, and accessing from Windows 10, Android, and Nintendo Switch.  This issue (or a new issue with the same symptoms) is not fixed and should not be resolved.

migrated

I'm going to echo Christian's comments above. Playing bedrock edition on Nintendo Switch I have been unable to find slimes in slime chunks. Experimenting with super-flat and creative and intermittently utilizing the /kill @e command resulted in a net of two slimes over the course of an hour's game play. Something is seriously wrong with slime spawning.

migrated

If the player is near or by bedrock, mob spawn doesn't exist. Player need to be at least 30 blocks away from bedrock.

Reopening this for a review. (Bear in mind that this is likely to be affected by the general spawning issue described at MCPE-21856.)

Please add a vote and any new information regarding this issue.

Tested in 1.6.x - A few Slimes will spawn in slime chunks, with the player standing at y6, and without sky access:

since the aquatic update 1.5.0 I can not find slimes in any world, not even in the flat worlds where before there were many during the day

migrated

Thank you Mega_Spud. I have discovered that slimes spawning in slime chunks is greatly effected by sky access. I finally found a chunk and cleared all blocks from y39 to y63.

Results were that slimes would spawn on the top layer as a "surface spawn" but layers below would have nothing - no "cave spawns".

If cave mobs are not despawning (which we know they're not) then that may be a significant part of the issue, and if cave spawns are not despawning then we'll never see slimes underground, making it largely impossible to locate a slime chunk. There's definitely a linkage as described above.

migrated

Thank you Mega_Spud for reopening this issue.

At first I thought that sky access to the block is required. But then I did witness them spawning underground even when there was no sky above them.

Still, they spawn most reliably only when there is sky above the blocks, But I noticed that they do not spawn at night at all.

But I do not know why they are not spawning in superflat.

migrated

The spawn rate for slimes needs to be a lot higher then what it is, did superflat and saw that 1 out of nearly 50 to 100 mobs I would see a slime, maybe more then that even. The slimes are oddly super rare and I don't get why when slime is used quite a bit. I wouldn't be able to do anything underground for slimes if the odds are 1 to 100 of finding a slime, by that I mean barely any normal mobs spawn to for a slime to appear at all. I have a cave set for them and not even the normal mobs would appear that much.

migrated

Got the same issue with new 1.7.0  i found 1 slime in the swamp biome and till then nearly 30 moon phases passed and no one spawned till then. but the one single i found i only found cause i could hear him underground. swamp grass is level 63 there.

also no success with slime chunks.

migrated

I have a similar issue with slimes not spawning in slime chunks.  Before the 1.7 update, slimes were spawning in my slime chunk, but after 1.7 slimes no longer spawning in my slime chunk.  I think that the slime chunk may have been moved or regenerateed randomly.

migrated

#ME TOO. I have used multiple slime chunk finders for bedrock edition to locate slime chunks after slimes stopped spawning in my original slime farm. I have spent many hours digging out several slime chunks below level 40 with access to the sky. (both single and double chunk areas) and each time waited 15 mins to an hour for slimes to appear. Unfortunately, no slimes EVER.   Also I have seen a total of 1 slime in the overworld after searching more than 50 chunks in each direction from my base.

migrated

On Android, Minecraft 1.7.0.13, there are no slimes spawning, even in a flat world, in either single player or realm.

migrated

Since randomtickspeed is now here in Bedrock, I performed further tests. The problem has not only been significantly agrevated in Beta 1.8.0.13, but it has also become pretty clear that this is a general mob spawn issue, and not a slime spawn issue.

Only observation of mine so far that might be worth any value: Phantom spawn rate is normal.

migrated

As of beta 1.9.0.5, slimes are now spawning normally in superflat.

But still no underground spawn. They spawn in spawn chunks when I load the world, But after the first few batches get killed, no nore spawns.

migrated

still no underground slime spawning in but hanging around in a swamp for a couple of hours spawn some slime.

migrated

I get slimes in Swamps on version 1.8.1 on the Nintendo Switch. I've yet to see one underground.

migrated

The spawns for bedrock version are seriously jacked up. Switching to peaceful then to hard fixes it for ten min tho.

migrated

I am playing in a realm without coords 1.9.0. I have extensively lit up caves near my base. I believe it is WAI. I identified a couple of adjacent slime chunks and I get slime spawns with no sky access.

migrated

The problem appears fixed on 1.11.0.1. Not sure about the spawn rate, but at least they are appearing underground. I created a short demonstration video: https://youtu.be/OO_buZjlSSA

I am not yet sure whether the slime chunk coordinates have changed. I loaded up an old test setup but nothing spawned. Then I created a new map and cleared up a 64x64 underground area. Finally slimes started spawning.

migrated

I am not getting any slimes in 1.10. edit: After about 25 minutes over multiple spawn chunks, I had 1 slime spawn. So, the rate was greatly reduced but they can still spawn. I have not checked swamps, just spawn chunks.

Slime spawning has only worked correctly for about 5% of the time that I have been playing this game. So disappointing to have it work and then get it yanked away from me again.

migrated

I've been playing Minecraft since December on Nintendo Switch, its now April and so far I have only ever seen 1 small slime in a cave.

I have hung out for 8 nights in  a swamp and no slimes.

I have now used a chunk finder to find a slime chunk and have created a slime farm for bedrock edition by silentwisperer and still have no slimes.

This is getting very frustrating.

migrated

Also happens on 1.11.1 very frustrating.

migrated

Now in 1.12.0, I have utilized an entity_x-ray pack to clear a few dark rooms and slime spawning is back to where it was if no other players are on to take up the mob cap. I don't know why this seemed to occur coincidentally with the 1.10 update for me, but this issue seems to be with Bedrock's broken despawning--not with the slime spawning.

GoldenHelmet

As indicated by many earlier comments, there seems to no longer be a specific issue with slime spawning. I have had no problems with slimes spawning in swamps, slime chunks, and flat worlds on multiple devices over the last 10 months when Bedrock’s spawning rules, including density caps, are taken into account.

There are general issues with spawning mechanics covered by MCPE-21856. These should be fixed by the changes to despawning introduced in 1.16.0.51 beta when those changes are finalized in a release version.
