Buried Treasure Chests, Ruins, and Shipwreck locations can be incorrect.

World Seed: Coastal Village, -1813740965; Survival Mode, Hard Difficulty.

I found a Treasure Map in a Ruin's Chest (x=600 z=360). I went to the location on the map (x=472 z=-504). The treasure chest was not found. In place of the treasure chest, I found a sandstone block. I copied the seed and tried the Locate buriedtreasure command. The Locate confirmed the location was x=472 z=-504, see attachment.

I have tried several other treasure chest maps in this seed, but none of the maps produced a treasure chest. Here's another case: Ruins at x=-543 z=-202 with Treasure Map Red X; but Locate command shows x=-696 z=-248. No treasure chest at either location, refer to attachments.

After some testing, it looks like that the chest generates specifically 5 blocks away to the Northwest, rather than the intended spot.

I can confirm that this phenomenon happens in every world I've created, and to every Buried Treasure chest that generates.

@Allen Nelson
For buried treasure chests specifically, I've checked the specific locations from the screenshots shown and tried counting 5 blocks facing Northwest.

Surely enough, the chest generated exactly where I thought it would be.

Can you try and reproduce these steps?

Confirmed on 1.4.0 Bedrock (on Android) that there is no chest generated either directly under the coordinates or 5 blocks to the North West. Tore up all the sand that I could find around area in searching.

Could someone please confirm if treasure chests are always located under sand blocks and maximum depth where treasure chests should generate? I obtained a map from a shipwreck for this treasure location and confirmed coordinates with /locate command.

I love spending 30 minutes wasting my time looking for something that dosen’t exist! On 1.4 Buried Tresure dosen’t spawn anywhere near the X. In fact Ive destroyed hundreads of blocks creating a crater looking for 1 chest and have found nothing. This is a severe issue. Please if you camt fix this make it so that the maps tell you that the chest dosen’t exist that way the player dosen’t have to waste time looking for it.

@unknown - I'm trying to figure out what is happening; Could it be that the treasure map is pointing to an area that was already explored (ie, an area that was loaded before 1.4?)

Are you able to provide a copy of the world where the treasure maps aren't pointing to the treasure correctly please?

For new worlds using the example seed in the description this appears to be fixed:

Could you check the area under the X again please? I just loaded your world save, and there was treasure located at 456 59 -2360

I can see the difference of course. But you said:

There is no buried treasure at the "Red X"

In the world save you have supplied, there is a treasure map in the chest at 348 63 -2324.

Following that map to the X marker, leads to 456 59 -2360 - where there is a treasure chest:

The treasure buried at 456 59 -2424 is likely to just be a different buried treasure chest, which another treasure map could lead to:

Ok thanks for extra information. I'll close this ticket for now as it seems the original issue is fixed.

I have this (or a similar issue) with latest PS4 version. There are no chests at the map cross.  Even digging 30 down and 20 across.  Tried 4 maps, all the same.  I did update from a world generated from the previous release of minecraft on PS4.   I only play survival mode, in single user (not public).
