Villagers won't close doors

It's fixed now they're closing doors probably

Mojang please fix this, not only do all our villagers die from zombies because of this but as of the 1.11 beta even pillager patrols kill them because they don't close doors

watch your golems also. They seem to be getting stuck in 1 block high water areas, and mine haven't been attacking zombie villagers.

board up your favorite villagers. cauldrons catch and keep villagers safe. (until they hop out 🙂).

I haven't gotten breeding to work yet, but zombie villagers are converting just fine. Remember professions are chosen by what crafting tables are in village. Really wish the grinder was craft able for weapon smiths. 5 villages no grinder. 😞 

Golems getting stuck and not attacking sounds like a different bug - could you please report it in its own ticket so we can track and fix it?

Will this be patched into 1.10? I don't want to have to wait until 1.11 comes out to play without all my villagers dying.

Also curious about when the patch will come. Haven't been able to play Minecraft, I'm playing Village Protector and it's not much fun. 

This bug is also in the stable and the latest version of all bedrock edition (ie 1.10.0) running devices and one have to be careful at night time as the zombies just enter the house and kill the villagers and till the in-game morning the village will turn into a zombie village.

I have to go one by one to every house at night time and close the doors which is very annoying. Please fix this as soon as possible.

Can confirm this happens in stable release 1.10. Interestingly, they appear to close doors that face East/West properly while doors that face North/South are left open so that they face East/West.

This happened to me too on the Switch version. I was inside a building and several villagers ran in and out without shutting the doors. After it turned day I found at least three building I was not in with the doors wide open. Please fix this in 1.11! @ [Minecraft] Mega_Spud

This seems to be fully fixed in 1.11.0.7 beta.

Also on realms this is anoying!

Version 1.10.1, Realms: can confirm this issue still exists (win10 client). There is no difference in behavior for East/West doors vs North/South doors in my reproductions.

They're basically suicide villagers right now.

Ok I was mistaken. It isn't fixed in 1.10. but as some tests that I did on villagers, as I said, they won't close doors. It doesn't depend on North/South or East/West doors , they won't interact with closed doors (as in picture, on the left side I placed doors on circular form around villager similar to right side and they opened them but didn't close them, on right side I placed doors similar to left side and villagers opened doors and villager inside got stuck in. (I didn't use my hand to doors, just villagers were) 

It’s very annoying. Doors are all that’s protecting them from zombies after all. Every door in the whole village is left open on my world by the villagers. Maybe they plan to patch it in village and pillage

There is no release 1.10.0.7. Do you mean 1.10.0, or 1.11.0.7?

In any case, this appears to be mostly fixed in 1.11.0.9. (Though I'm now having a problem with villagers opening a door and immediately closing it before they go through, after which they stand still for a bit before giving up and going away.)

Villagers started doing this in the last week or two on Windows 10 Bedrock. Around the same time the Drowned mostly started ignoring me when i go into the water.

I think I've only seen this once since 1.11.0.9 Beta came out a week ago, and that was when two villagers were going through the door in opposite directions at the same time. That's kind of a special case, because both would try to open and close the door, but if the one who actually opens it gets blocked by the other one going through, it may cancel its pathfinding and not go through after all, so it doesn't close the door. I'm not sure how one could fix such situations.

I still have this problem in Windows 10 edition. No villager close the doors at night ever so they all die after a couple of nights. This makes the game unplayable unless I wan't to play peaceful mode.

On my PC I believe these problems are quite recent, and are certainly present in version 1.10.1.

This bug is only in 1.10, eveyrone knows that version is affected. It got fixed in the 1.11 betas.

All villagers in villages I have passed through even only once are later gone when I return days/weeks later, even if I go far away from the village. If I stay overnight, sleep at dusk, all are gone in the morning even though no zombies were present, heard nothing during the sleep. I've stayed up all night, seen/heard no zombies, but all are gone again if I leave and return later in the same "day". None close doors. I have repopulated a village from curing zombie villagers and it happens again the very next night. They usually all try to pack into one house, so even if I close the door myself, one will be glitching half in/half out through the door. Even houses with only one villager in it, they do not close the door at night. (xbox one) 

There have been quite a few reports recently of villagers disappearing, both in the 1.10 release and in the 1.11 Beta. Many of them have been attributed by the reporter to leaving their doors open and being taken by zombies, but some reporters claim that their villagers were in a well-lit, inescapable room and at least one was playing in Peaceful difficulty. Zombies (and other monsters) and pillager raids can't be responsible in circumstances such as those.

I am looking into this as it suggests there may be a bug causing villagers to despawn. If we're able to reproduce it, we'll designate one of the reports to track it and inform the developers. Please note that it would be a different bug than this one. Don't assume that leaving the doors open is the only explanation for disappearing villagers.

@unknown: Don't assume that because a bug doesn't happen for you, it must not happen for anybody. I'd say at least half of all reports require a specific triggering condition that most people never encounter. But even if it only affects 1% of players, that's still millions of people having the problem, so we don't discount it. (We helpers and mods spend a lot of our time finding these rare triggering conditions, which is why we're always asking for steps to reproduce the problem.)

It was my report where I added in a comment that villagers were disappearing while I was on peaceful.

Villagers still seem to dwindle for me in 1.11.0.10.

Only moderators can link reports. If we're able to find a way to reproduce it, your report might well become the one we use to track the bug. But we probably won't link it to this, as it's really not related to this bug. My comment above was intended to let players know to look for circumstances that could differentiate between the two, so we don't conflate them where we can avoid it.

Is anyone still experiencing this problem? From what I can see, it has been fixed.

Note that there is now an issue with villagers closing iron doors that were intentionally open: See MCPE-44621. Apparently the fix for this issue was to make villagers close any door that they are standing beside (and aren't pathing through it or have already gone through).
