Fall into void if set to respawn on pressure plate (logout or via command)

When I set my spawnpoint on a pressure plate using a command block for my minigame, respawning on the pressure plate respawn me into the void instead, at same coordinates, I am using a flatworld for it, because of this bug, I had to replace all pressure plates with strings.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Create a flat world.

  2. Place a pressure plate.

  3. Stand on the pressure plate and run the following command: /spawnpoint

  4. Die and respawn.

  5. or simply log out and back in

Observed Results:
The player respawns underneath bedrock and falls into the void.
Happens on multiple platforms

Expected Results:
The player should respawn on the pressure plate.

Commenting to draw attention to this issue and other issues regarding pressure plates. There seems to be a lot of issues with them in 1.16

[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay)

Does this also happen in regular (non-flat) worlds? Can this be reproduced by placing pressure plates around beds as well?

[Mod] OcelotOnesie

This can happen in non-flat worlds, but only if the pressure plate is underground.
For beds surrounded by pressure plates, they will also need to be underground.

This can also be repro'd by just placing a pressure plate and logging off on it per MCPE-65982.

Just confirmed it then by dropping down a spruce pressure plate, standing on it, switching to survival and logging out. On logon the death screen shows.

Ionic

Edit: Also, to answer your question Jay, yes the behaviour above also happens on a flat world 🙂

Just in case it helps, video of the issue below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeWyHiRwA88

Repro steps:

  1. Place down a pressure plate

  2. Stand on pressure plate

  3. Save and exit

  4. Reload World

What happens
You are below bedrock and die in survival. You are below bedrock in creative. Always directly below where you logged out (in the video I wasn't, may have tapped the keyboard).

Bug confirmed on Xbox One. The bug causes the player to get repeatedly respawned below the world, causing multiple deaths, which you can never get out of.

Can confirm, i just die and lost all my items in my survival world, which i had to use cheats to get back my core items.
