Summary:
The game crashes when entering a nether portal after a certain amount of mobs have been sent through.
Steps to Reproduce:
Create a world.
Create a nether portal.
Enter the nether portal and come back to the Overworld.
Spawn 15 or more mobs and send them through the nether portal.
Enter the nether portal.
Observed Results:
The game crashes when entering the nether portal.
Expected Results:
The game should not crash when entering the nether portal.
Original Description:
Game crashes to desktop upon entering the Nether. This has been happening consistently since the new beta release.
Edit: Seems to happen, in my case, after sending baby villagers to the Nether. The next time I try to enter, the game crashes to desktop. Then, when I reopen, I appear in the overworld about 10 blocks to the northeast. Always to the same position. The first time it happened, I loaded inside of solid blocks, and had to break my way out to avoid being suffocated. After several times of this happening, I was able to go to the Nether, as normal, only to discover that my baby villagers were nowhere to be found.

I think this might be caused by the same entity issue as my MCPE-66763. In my case, it occurs when I send monster mobs into the Nether, as part of a farm.
I'm here from a duplicate issue that I filed. Will post my info also!
For me, this crash happens when entering any nether portal from the overworld. It seems to have started when multiple entities entered the portal in quick succession. In this case, it was two villagers that ran into the portal from the overworld at the same time. I can't actually see them in the nether database, but the items and entities that went in before and after them are in the database.
I have been having issues with items disappearing when they enter the portal simultaneously with a villager. Namely, I was bringing villagers into and out of the nether with minecarts; when I broke the minecart in the nether portal, both villager and minecart vanish. When the minecart fell in just before the villager, it also vanished.
I was using a portal with a wall behind it and found that my items and villagers vanished every time. After digging out a space behind the portal, at least one of either the villager or the cart would appear in the nether. My final solution was:
Make a room that the villager and cart could sit in that was behind the portal
Break the cart away from the portal
Pick the cart up
Push the villager into the portal
This seemed to work better, until I had those two villagers escape and jump into the portal at the same time.
I'm investigating using Universal Minecraft Editor (UME) to see if I can get the portals working again.
Using UME, I found that six cats entered the portal separately and turned out fine.
Again, the two villagers that ran in after the cats are not in the database.
After that, I threw in four emeralds and those seem fine as well.
Edit: Looks like deleting all entries from nether limbo fixes the issue
It seems to depend on how many mobs go through now. Around 20ish mobs and i was able to go through with no crash, though only one mob went through. Around 100ish mobs and the game crashed yet again.
Beta 1.16.0.60. Game crashes repeatedly going through Nether Portal irrespective of entities passing through. Using an 8 x world file backup system to roll back to try and work out cause/trends. Game crash = full game crash and not crashing to game start menu.
Observations:
1) Single mobs can go in at one end and not appear at other (havent tried multiple). Examples are horses, villagers, etc. Random; sometimes success, sometimes not. Sometimes game crashes, sometimes not.
2) Game crashes 1½ seconds after entering Portal on OW side. World file size is around 180MB. Seem to get more crashes after 180MB is exceeded. Game runs a compression algorithm after saving (nice btw) but not sure if world size is a factor as regards crashing.
3) Multiple events: Redstone circuits (permanent on), auto composters (while working), comparator clocks, etc seem to cause the game to crash more when entering Nether Portals.
After a crash, reloading the world that crashed - causes one or more mobs to disappear from the world, villagers in hall, sheep in pens, etc forcing me to delete world and use backups. Some mobs that disappear are on chunk boundaries however, other mobs that are also on chunk boundaries NEVER disappear (non nametagged)...HTH
Update to previous:
World in previous ticket became unable to enter Nether through main base Nether Portal (Portal 1). Game crashed a dozen or more times trying to travel through this portal. Travelled in Overworld to different base and used NP there no problem (Portal 2). Travelled in Nether to the corresponding NP that was synced to Portal 1 in main base and found a stationary cat with its tail poking out of the portal tiles. The cat left the game abruptly (through no choice of its own) and haven't had a problem with my world since in the last 24 hours (fingers crossed). All cats in my main base have been tamed and sat to avoid further entity problems whereby if I reach the cat cap no more will spawn.... HTH
Appears to have been fixed in beta 1.16.0.61. Sent over 100 guardians through a portal with no crash when entering to the nether and all guardians made it through.
the issue happens mostly when an entity enters a nether portal before the nether is loaded after opening the world. You can fix it by using an external program currently to kill the item in the nether
