That really sucks, I hope you can get your world back sometime soon. Hopefully since it is on realms already, that can help you in the future if there is some way to restore it.
Hi Collin, I wanted to let you know that I had a similar problem with my long term world suddenly becoming bloated after the newest update but on the Xbox.MCPE-223622 . I contacted Minecraft support and while they didn’t give me a way to fix it, they told me that this bug is a known problem over at Mojang and they are apparently working on it. Whether this actually means it’s close to getting fixed, I don’t know, but I wanted to let you know.
I forgot to say that I uploaded the the bloated world to realms and it displayed the correct file size of 221 MB, both when uploading and when downloaded to another device. I am hoping that whatever the problem is, it remains local to the xbox. I have not played it yet but will update you on the outcome.
Another update: I deleted local save data to see if that did anything, and now, everything fails to sync to the cloud (because the file takes up all of the cloud storage). Additionally, this prevents me from actually deleting it conventionally using the Minecraft menu. This is a huge problem. The only way to delete this world and play normally again is to delete EVERYTHING on my cloud save.
Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft and now Minecraft views that world as being 2.1 GB in addition to the local save data saying so. Before, they disagreed, where Minecraft would tell me the world was 221 MB MB and internal storage would tell me it was 2.5 GB (including other worlds). This confirms that that world specifically was the problem (though an earlier copy of it also increased in size suspiciously, but much less).
I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks for letting me know
A similar problem with an inconsistent and bloated total file size when comparing Minecraft vs my console (Xbox in this case) happened to me, except without any conversion between console editions. My files according to the console are substantially larger than what Minecraft says they are, and I cannot save on the world. Most of the instances of this kind of issue I am finding are from earlier this year to now. I wonder if this is a world corruption bug on bedrock across consoles.
A similar thing is happening to me except on local storage on my Xbox series X. My cumulative save data is too big when looking at it through the Xbox to be able to save, but according to Minecraft, my total world saves are much smaller. I am also going to be trying to download some of my worlds through realms. If you see this, let me know how it’s going!
Thanks for telling me! That's interesting, I will look out for any changes once I download it from realms again, but this experience scared me so much I might just play it on realms exclusively because of its back up save files. From my research the cloud and local save limit for xbox is actually 2GB, which tracks since my cumulative saves now are over that for some reason. The actual game shouldn't be included in your limit. My world is supposed to be 221 MB, (but it's bloated to 2.1 GB) and didn't include any add ons or texture packs or anything. It's completely vanilla, so i doubt my problem is for that reason. I hope this problem gets fixed so you can play your world normally again : )
