[MCPE-223708] Storage is Full/Can no longer play Minecraft

My longterm survival world [2 years old 1250 in game days] which I've been playing on with no problems will no longer let me play after I tried making another new creative world to test mods before I added them. It says I an maxed out on storage when that isn't the case, plenty on the Ps5 [over a terabyte] and just this morning I wasn't even close to full, was able to duplicate said world just fine. Deleted everything down to uninstalling minecraft from the ps5 altogether and even that didn't help. I literally cannot play. I can't make new worlds, nothing.

I have done more work and research and it seems to be failed copies of worlds taking up the space. I have no way to access these “ghost files” and and they have completely prevented me from using my console version of minecraft. I would make a new bug report but since this seems to be a 4+ year community problem, I think we need to work together to fix this. Please see this.

I have a backup saved on the PS+ Cloud, I've tried using the free trial of Realms to see if I can even run it and I can't. No matter what type of world I try and create or re-download or try and old sync it says all my storage is Full. I cannot play my favorite game, and frankly I'm extremely depressed. Please Mojang. I just wanna be able to see my world again.

Looks like I will be attempting to fix this on my own seeing as it's getting buried under copper golem bugs. I will be transferring the save to a USB and manually tinkering with the files. Wish me luck.

PS5 doesn't allow save transfer like PS4 so I can't manually scrub the file, bought realms just to try and upload the world, keeps giving me an error anywhere between 50% to 75% uploaded.

I'm seeing multiple people online commenting with this exact issue on ALL consoles. While I understand limitations on less powerful consoles, I've never had this issue with Bedrock PS4 let alone a PS5. After the Happy Ghast update, I haven't been able to play. I'm hoping this gets noticed soon.

I encountered a similar issue but instead of having a long-term world, I bloated the save file size when converting old PS4 worlds to the PS5 version of the app - I added a comment to MCPE-194548 .

Either Minecraft forgets to delete data from the save file, the actual file sizes are misrepresented or the check for the “full storage” is based on the physical size of the storage file which might be a database that contains empty space (so Minecraft doesn't “shrink” the file).

Hi Collin, I wanted to let you know that I had a similar problem with my long term world suddenly becoming bloated after the newest update but on the Xbox.MCPE-223622 . I contacted Minecraft support and while they didn’t give me a way to fix it, they told me that this bug is a known problem over at Mojang and they are apparently working on it. Whether this actually means it’s close to getting fixed, I don’t know, but I wanted to let you know.

This is on PS5 so unfortunately no. I've tried saving to an external hardrive but to access the files they would need to be on a PS5, otherwise on pc they are encrypted.

my issue is i have a lot of storage both on minecraft and on my ps5 yet i cant play any of my worlds or do anything else because it says its full. ive already deleted most games i dont play no pictures and minimum saved data and i only have 6 worlds. please fix this im in bed with an elbow injury and i just want to play minecraft ive had this world for over 3 years please fix it.

This is ridiculous. Minecraft is the largest game in the world, owned by one of the largest companies in the world. I’ve been experiencing issues like this for well over a year and searched online countless times. There is no way to fix this on your own and Mojang has done nothing. It quite literally makes the game unplayable and I know quite a few people are experiencing it. I don’t mean to throw shade at the people who run this site, but they don’t read the posts and just redirect you repeatedly. They should be focusing on the game breaking stuff before doing minor fixes.
