Check your internet, and make sure your Minecraft is up to date.

And after 5 minutes of waiting it disappeared. Please fix this Mojang, or at least give this bug some attention.

I'm using fancy graphics. You can indeed reproduce it in vanilla, I tried.

I've experienced this issue before on servers with NPCs that are supposed to have player skins. Common issue.

Do they have beds? If they don't, then that's a feature.

Is there water under the farmland? Is it raining, but you have rain effects disabled via something like OptiFine?
