There is this new complication that the chat button cannot be used anymore to look at the chat history. This part of the functionality was working even when the "no typing feedback" problem already existed. So technically, we are dealing with a new bug whose impact is arguably worse, because now one either gets a message as it flies across the screen, or it will be gone forever. In comparison, the "no visible text when typing" bug has a workaround which is "type without visual feedback".

Is there any chance that this bug will be fixed or is every MPE player expected to be able to upgrade to the latest iOS version?

AFAIC, the bug should have been fixed a long time ago, when our iOS versions were still current, or at least not very much outdated.

David, look at MCPE-13775, for instance. It specifically mentions the iOS version dependency of this bug.

David, MPE versions higher than 14.3 require at least iOS 8.0.

For my iOS 7.1.1 version, I'm not offered the update to 0.15.4.

If you look at all the submitters (perhaps from duplicated entries as well) you will notice that a lot of them specify that they are running older versions of iOS.

The chat feature has not been broken for newer versions of iOS for quite a while. This bug, however, has existed for older iOS versions for a very long time now. Again, I do not see how this ticket deserves a "Resolved" status, as this particular bug has been about not quite up to date iOS versions for a long time.

Please find a way to bring a fix to us users who cannot update to more modern versions of iOS. It would be much appreciated.

The problem still exists on version v0.14.3.

In a change from bad to worse, since a couple of versions, I can no longer see past chat messages.

So, typing still has to be done without visual feedback and now one cannot even see past messages anymore (neither from oneself, nor from other players).

Why has this issue been marked as "Resolved"?

Can this bug please be fixed?

FYI, I'm on an iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.1. Upgrade to a newer iOS version is unfortunately not an option.

This procedure may allow you to enter servers again by putting in your password (albeit blindly); it works for me (on an iPad).

I can confirm that my report indeed duplicates MCPE-11812.

However, please note that MCPE-11812 was written in a manner that made it hard to recognise it as the same issue. The description of MCPE-11812 implies that text input is possible and that the only problem is that one cannot see what one is typing.

Thanks for pointing me to MCPE-11812, which prompted me to try pressing "Return" on the keyboard after text input, which when followed by pressing the "Back" actually results in the text input being accepted.

Apologies, I saw MCP-11812 but since its description said "...you cannot see what you are typing until you are done and hit the Back button." and I believed I could not make any input at all, I thought it was a different issue.

I just found out that I can type blindly and by pressing "Return" on the keyboard, followed by the "Back" button, the text is accepted. That works as a solution for me.

May I ask why MCPE-11812 has not been assigned to anyone yet?
It has been reported almost two months ago.

P.S.: I wrote a new ticket because my original one was never attended to by anyone and I thought the reason could be that I framed it around the inability to log in at a server. I could relate to the idea that Minecraft PE developers thought that the bug was not theirs to fix.

The very same issue occurs when trying to type in text in the regular game. In other words, this is not a problem related to another server (e.g., one running "Hunger Games").

The interface in the regular, single player game is also broken, when trying to enter a message.
