I believe this to be a feature, not a bug. It would break many redstone contraptions and farms if this were to be "fixed".

I'd like to make the counter-argument that throwing the item from your hand will be counterintuitive.

You aim by moving your camera, which is always from the perspective of your head.

If items and entities were to be thrown or shot from the hand, it would make it more difficult to aim them (for example when trying to throw something through a hole) because it'll always be at an angle.

It might visually be weird (note: only in third-person, first-person looks normal) but gameplay wise it's perfect for the way minecraft works.

Same issue here. Generated a new world, was flying around. Stayed stationary in a single spot while alt+tabbed out of the window, suddenly crashed.

Please refrain from using the Minecraft bug reports for jokes.

I'm pretty sure this has been like this since the Nether got introduced to the game, lol.
