you wont believe it - but it's still an issue in 2024 (1.20.4) - can only open, but not close inventory with custom mouse bottom - need to use ESC to close it...

works flawlessly on bedrock...

I completely agree, this bug is affecting simple, offline gameplay with friends! I have three problems, which all boil down to the same issue, i think. Two are related to playing offline, with clients joined by an adhoc network:

  • if the host of the adhoc network starts a world (set to multiplayer), this world switches to non-multiplayer, and no one can join

[media]
  • if a client on an adhoc network starts a multiplayer world, then everybody can join fine, except the host of the adhoc network - he gets the "You must be connected to Wifi to play with your friends." message - even though he can see the world, and certainly sits on the same network...

  • the third case is a little different: i have a bedrock server running at home, to which i can connect remotely using a vpn connection into my home network. this works fine from remote wlan or lan, but when connected to a mobile network operator, i get the same error message "You must be connected to Wifi to play with your friends." - even though the server shows up with ping, and online players

I think all three issues are related to minecraft thinking there is no connection for lan play (in case 1&2 because obviously wlan is off since hotspot is on), and in case 3 since the connection to the server is by vpn over 3G, and wlan is off, too...

I completely agree with John David Florido that they should take their time to fix this properly - but this feature is essential for casual gameplay on the go / remote areas without router....

Thank you Mojang for keeping up the quality of the game!

This issue is annoying when trying to do multiplayer sessions when on the go (train, holidays etc). typically we do not use xbox live, and have our hotspot disconnected from the internet (to save data, or because there is no / unstable connection - and because minecraft does not really require internet to play at all). multiplayer works fine for us (since 3 years) if the hotspot is on a device not joining the game. but if you dont have a spare device for hotspot, and try setting up a hotspot on the host / any player - this user can not join.

we think it is simply related to the fact that multiplayer only works with wlan enabled - but in hotspot mode wlan is disabled... so maybe minecraft should not ask android if wlan is enabled, but just let us play in whatever combo we hook up our devices. as i see it there is no technical reason to do otherwise....

same issue with mcpe version 1.2.16 - 4/4 maps dont align anymore. makes it impossible to extend my world map in item frames. generally hampers exploring, as creating a new (4/4) map once the border of a old one is reached will create a more or less player centred map, which usually to 50% overlaps the old one, but needs to be explored again... please fix this, mojang, or give us the option to choose the map centre!

resolved in 1.2.13 - thank you, good work - after more than half a year i can go back to my world again...

@auldrick: you are right - thanks for pointing out mcpe-25487!

still an issue in 1.2.11.

steps to reproduce (tested on several android devices):

create a locator map of any zoom level, place it in an item frame -> green indicator appears
move away to a new spot in the same map, place another item frame, place a copy of the map
expected: a second green indicator appears
observed: the first green indicator disappears, only the second (most recent) remains visible

this can seriously hamper gaming experience for people exploring the world, building new home bases and making them visible on the map with green indicators (from locator maps placed in item frames)...

still an issue in 1.2.11. this issue is similar to the one that auldrick described on sept 2017, but might vary from the one that auldrick created on 11. mars 2018.

  • create a locator map of any zoom level, place it in an item frame -> green indicator appears

  • move away to a new spot in the same map, place another item frame, place a copy of the map

this is still an issue in 1.2.10. mojang, please fix this! i have explored a large world (>1gb, more than 16 fully unzoomed maps) and all my bases are marked (or were marked) with a map in an item frame.
with this bug minecraft has lost its fun for me...

can confirm on 1.0.7 its not fixed - very frustrating - its first appeared with horse / mule inventories, now its all over! almost every chest you open rearranges your hotbar - mojang, are you even testing your builds?

same here - but on samsung galaxy tab pro, ever since 1.0.5, only on one of the two accounts on the same gadget (containing two accounts)

as soon as holding map game lags considerably - really anoying world discovery....

same as mcpe-18424 - can be merged...

confirmed for samsung galaxy tab pro ever since wither boss update

on mcpe 1.0, when creating a hotspot, can see friends game, but if trying to join tells me "wifi must be on" - please fix!!!

same here on 0.16.1 (started on 0.16) - samsung galaxy tab pro, cyanogenmod 12.1
solution: keep finger steady when longpressing, if inventory moves slightly out of place described behaviour...

same here for 0.15 and 0.16 - makes sorting inventory impossible. i think related to different sizes of inv display. worst when using mule with chest...

i allways fix my horse and mules with lead - never seen them coming off after restart (0.15 and 0.16, galaxy tab pro)

same here on 0.16 and 0.16.1 using galaxy tab pro.
also, removing horse from boat after sailing trip has become even more diffucult (before you could still hit boat until it drops itself, now chances are high to hit horse instead)

hey there -

i agree, the nether has become very laggy since to 0.16 (and only a minor improvment with 0.16.1) due to too many blaze and ghast spawns... whereas it was too few back in 0.15, it too much now and you have to switch to peaceful mode too despawn, otherwise after some time the game just lags too much... its a shame, because i want to have wither skeleton farm - so de-spawning is a bad option, and switching to peaceful is like cheating!
i had a blaze spawner nearby, destroyed it, no change - blazes just spwan all around the place, too much - i can just keep up with the ghasts, but there too, its significantly more than before...
please adopt the spawn rates!
i am playing on samsung galaxy tab pro 10.2, but the same happens on other devices...
