Scaffolding causes excessive lag due to block updates

Many block updates that should not affect scaffolding can somehow update it. This can cause excessive lag if there is a lot of scaffolding being updated in the world. Such updates include redstone and repeaters being powered and unpowered, and liquids changing flow levels.

Here's a quick clip of this in progress with water: https://youtu.be/idY2U20qYK8

The same setup, but with acacia logs (which act like any other normal block): https://youtu.be/lRTJqgQ57FI

If you scale up these tests, the lag from the scaffolding becomes more severe. This bug only seems to affect scaffolding, and the lag is both client and server side.

Take away the scaffolding, does it still lag a lot? Can you record that as well?

Yes. If needed, I can scale up the tests to show just how bad the lag can get.

Can reproduce large fps drop

@unknown Would you mind attaching that test world to the bug report?

After some testing by replacing the scaffolding with acacia fence gate, I can confirm this does NOT duplicate MC-123584

I'm on bedrock on a tablet though. I'm trying to find a ticket, I fail miserably trying to find ones already made. Anyway, I don't work with lots of scaffolding but since doing so I have noticed extreme lag just as scaffolding is being placed. Even sand does this. I think it's any of these types of blocks. Maybe there is something going on in both editions of the game. I hope it can be fixed. It might improve performance with entities/block entities and such.

After trying to test this issue in the provided world, I was unable to reproduce any major FPS loss:

This may just be hardware specific, are you still able to reproduce the issue in the latest version?

@unknown My FPS does not decrease either, however, the MSPT does increase.
