No text in the body. Two bugs listed in the subject. Not the best bug report I've seen.
Edit: looks like the bug report was edited after I made my comment. Looks better now.
@voi1452 please be respectful towards others or you'll not be permitted to use this issue tracker anymore.
@doublen1 please try and provide more (correct) information and keep it to one bug per report, thanks!

Presuming you know this already but FYI:
This issue is caused by an excessive amount of client-side lighting updates due to the amount of light-sources (lava) present in the nether. These updates (one per tick) are causing massive client-side lag during recalculation of lighting. This lag appears as spikes in frame-rate/render time.
There are several client-side mods available that resolve this issue while still keeping the full functionality. If you could look into these and provide a solution that would be awesome. 🙂
Reopened due to MC-46262
Can maybe reproduce and explain for
1.8.1-pre3 I don't know if this is right, but with render distance of 12 and flying in creative mode and sprinting (ctrl), I get in the overworld a maximum of 450 chunk updates, but in the nether I get chunk updates up to even nearly 600, both in unloaded chunks (see screenshots), so I assume there is something going wrong in the nether

General lag isn't really a bug per se, there is just a limit to what your computer can handle. This report is about complete freezes.
Lag in the Nether is normal, since there are a lot of elements that need to be loaded. The level of noise is just you being DUMB. There is something called VOLUME that can turn the sound UP or DOWN!
