Hearts, food, armor and crosshair are the wrong color (overlay) when holding certain items.

When you have an enchantd item in your hotbar, your hearts and food bars have a purple tint.
When you have a spawn egg in your hotbar, your hearts and food bars are black, the crosshair is invisible.

If you are experiencing this problem, please update your graphics card drivers and check if that fixes the problem.
It might be an AMD/ATI card problem.

Unable to reproduce as well.

Cannot reproduce on an Nvidia card, will test on ATI.
Edit: Unable to reproduce on a Radeon HD 5570.

I have an AMD card, never seen this issue before. Oddly enough its not happening on all my worlds.

Can reproduce:
Windows 8.1 64bit
nVidia GTX 560-Ti 2GB

Lily pads turn the HUD green.
Windows 7, Java 1.7.0_25, AMD Radeon HD 7850
It isn't always, when you have another item selected by the cursor and you replace the lily pad that way it doesn't turn green, but if you just place the lily pad in the hot bar (regardless of which slot) it turns green.

EDIT: The glitch only happens when the item is the LAST item on the hotbar. So if there is a lily pad in slot 8, then another item in slot 9, the glitch does not occur.
EDIT EDIT: This glitch only happens when you have ONE of the items.
Some potions turn it purple.
ONE Vine turns it green.
Enchanted book turn it purple.
ONE Lily pad turns it green.

Can reproduce:
Windows 7 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti

Let me draw your attention to the following fields at the top of the bug:

Resolution: Fixed
Fix Version/s: Future Version - 1.8?

Also happens with
Windows 8.1 64-bit
Intel HD Graphics 4000
