Spectators count as "players" for purposes of sleeping in SMP

Basically, if there's someone in spectator mode in the Overworld, sleeping is not possible, as it counts them as a player who's not in bed. It would make more sense if it counted like players in the Nether or End.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 14w11b or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. - bot

Confirmed for 14w17a.

Confirmed for 14w26c on SMP server

This isn't really a problem. You don't need to sleep to set your spawn. You just need to lie in the bed.

See - http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Bed
"If all sleeping requirements are met and the player enters a bed, the player will be positioned in the bed, in multiplayer you will be seen above the sheets, and the screen will slowly fade to black. During this time, the player can leave the bed by clicking the Leave Bed button. Once the player has entered the bed, the spawn point is set near the bed."

It is a bug, as spectators should not influence any aspect of the game.

The fact that players in other dimensions will still allow players in the overworld to sleep proves that this is indeed a bug.

Any possibility for a bug fix? Confirmed in version 1.8.3 release.

BUMP
Still not fixed in the snapshots for 1.9

EDIT:
15w39b fix confirmd

pre-release? what pre-release?

Possibly fixed in 15w33a? I see changed code that looks like it might have to do with this, but I'm not in a position to test it myself at the moment.
