Why was this closed as Won't Fix? The submitter mentioned the debug stick in the title, but it says the bug can occur even without the debug stick.
I think it's hilarious how this just casually refers to a panda eating a spyglass as if it's a perfectly normal thing.
@MMK21: MC-239041 was reported a few days ago and says it occurs in 21w43a. The issue I'm describing didn't occur in that version and seems to be new to 21w44a.
Can confirm in 21w08a.
This issue was submitted more than two years ago and the problem still occurs. It seems like a pretty serious bug. But have the devs even acknowledged it?
@Ayden: What feedback was it?
MC-196592 has the same problem that this one did; the title is just as limited in scope. This issue also affects biomes from my testing, and probably other things as well. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a single issue that covers everything, instead of creating a separate one for every single type of data that isn't overridden properly?
This seems more like an issue to contact support about. https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us
The fix doesn't seem to have worked completely; /u/dragon3025 and I can both confirm that replacing the noise settings for the Overworld does not work: https://www.reddit.com/r/minecraft_configs/comments/i088xw/having_trouble_adjusting_default_overworld/
In addition, I tried to modify a biome, and that didn't work either.
You mean because each template pool needs its own structure_feature that's referenced in a biome, not just the start, right? What he did is to just create a dummy biome that contains all of those, and to give it values in the multi_noise biome source such that it essentially never generates. That last step isn't necessary though; I just created a separate dimension, not intended to actually be used, whose only purpose is to contain that biome.
/u/Simsomsim on Reddit seems to have found a workaround: if the structure is referenced in a biome for natural generation, then it should work.
Greg, couldn't you just go back to pre4? I'd say pre5 but then you'd have to deal with that annoying lag issue.
WONTFIX, bug is result of incorrect user action 😉
Aren't dolphins not supposed to "drown" on land? Don't they breathe air? That's why they always jump out of the water.
Can confirm. Crashed my game. This was on singleplayer. I'll attach a crash report.
Confirmed. Thankfully, it seems to be an intermittent issue; after exiting back to the menu and trying again it sometimes works. Still very annoying though, especially considering the biggest feature in the new snapshot (which is awesome btw) inevitably leads to creating tons of new worlds that I don't intend on keeping for good.
At least it's not a problem with my mouse like I thought it was at first. I already had to send it back to the manufacturer once to fix a problem with the wheel!
UPDATE: I seem to have found a workaround: just click very quickly; don't keep the button held for longer than a split second. Hopefully 14w17b will fix this soon!
Sure makes farming for ender pearls easy though, especially if you already have access to the End.
What about bedrock, obsidian, and (I believe) End Stone?
Confirmed; I was on a LAN server with my brother, and he crashed with that error when I hit him with a torch.
I'm not sure this issue would be valid even if the debug stick was a supported feature. You can only get the debug stick using commands, so it's not too different from a bug report saying you can break bedrock by using /setblock or /fill. You don't even need commands to break bedrock if you're in Creative mode.
