Doesn't this have to do with issues with the skin server? It tends to go down a lot, but I could be wrong.

Sometimes, but you do loose your skin after death afaik

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Can we get a confirmation of whether this happens in 13w10a and an update to the affected versions?

I thought you lose your skin when you're in the limbo where you don't click respawn.

I noticed this in Minecraft 1.5 (Official Release) so I created a ticket unknowningly. FOR SCREENSHOTS SEE MC-12207
