Please attach your launcher log file from your .minecraft folder
In addition to the laucnher logs can you also attach a screenshot of how the laucnher looks for you?
To find the launcher log file:
Type windows-R
type "%appdata%" and hit return
open " .minecraft" folder
In that folder is a text file called "launcher_log.txt"
Same here. I own Java and cannot have bedrock alone...
I tried to update my launcher (version Windows 10.0.2.3.228 ) with the one offered in Microsoft store but then Icannot even start the game ("cannot update native launcher of minecraft ")
Hi there!
Please, attach launcher_log.txt file as well as the screenshots of the issue.
The only accessible is GAME of the Bedrock/Java not the bundle. Please, log-in to the Microsoft Store with the same account as you are logged-in to the Launcher and then claim missing game - you can do that from the Launcher level.
Let us know if that helped!

this is a legit issue
Hi!
I have the same problem too and I have tried the same process with everything signed in with the account which has the bedrock version but I was still getting the buy option instead of the get option. Here are a few screenshots:
[media][media]
And this is the launcher log:
[media]Hello!
I have the same problem, I own Minecraft Bedrock, but at the time of "Redeem", only the Option BUY -100 s/. and it doesn't say "Get".
@Barnos I have already done that yet it still doesn't work
AlsoI have no uploaded my log and screenshots
it would be nice if you could redeem Java/Bedrock without clicking the "redeem" button and instead you would be able to set up and apply the version to accounts created before July 7th. Would solve a lot of issues we users would be having at this time
Mine just makes it say "Play Demo" and if I click "redeem" I get to the store and all these redirects and it's very sad even though I already own Bedrock edition on this account.
how did I get here?:
I was using one of my dead bedrock accounts (one I got from winning an award from discord) on PC and tried to get java for one of my friend's birthdays (18th of June). Once I heard that you can get a free Java account I went over.
Once I clicked redeem it redirected me to a web-browser version of the Xbox/MS store it said "Buy" and not "Install" from there I go to the Xbox app which states that I already have the game installed.
I tried to uninstall/reinstall, restart the computer, and download the original launcher but nothing would work and would always say "Play demo"...
It also states that I would have to buy the bundle/game pass so I tried it with my main account w/game pass but that took me to my main and not this alt of mine.
I hope this gets patched by the 18th. My friend really wants an account and I already got them some other things and wouldn't want to spend another 30 dollarydoos just to match 2 accounts.
Please, try to download Xbox Companion App and reopen the Launcher. Let us know if that helped!
No I tried downloading the Xbox Console Companion App and reopen the launcher it but it still hasn't worked
hasent worked for me either
I've been having this issue as well, I "had" Java edition today for a brief hour or two, but had the "failed to create profile" issue, so I couldn't use it anyway.
So an Update,
Now it says that I can play but it asks to enter a username and when I enter an username is says that it failed to create profile. I think this is because in minecraft.net or Microsoft it still says that I don't have Minecraft and so the launcher thinks I have Minecraft java but the minecraft.net thinks I don't and so it can't verify my profile.
Here are a few screenshots:
[media][media][media][media]
Here is the launcher log file:
[media]im having the same issue. It looks like it thinks you did not buy java when you actually got it bundled. You can attempt to enter a IGN but it fails to create profile
I have the same issue
I am dealing with the same issue right now
I'm having the same problem, where I cannot create a java account. please help
We need more info to help solve this problem, I'm sorry to say:
Anyone running into a "Can’t Create Java Profile" issue, or seeing the Launcher say "Play Demo" when you own the game and/or own Bedrock and so should be able to access Java: Can you report a support case so that we can have a closer look at your problem? You can do that here: https://aka.ms/MCLauncherSupport
Please start that support ticket with the following text: "Reporting from MCL-21588 to provide the requested information". This is so that our support team can find you easily and forward that to us.
Then include screenshots of the launcher, the launcher_log.txt file (from this location on your PC: %appdata%\.minecraft ) , your Xbox Gamertag, and information on how you own Minecraft Java and/or Bedrock. Was it a direct purchase on minecraft.net or by game pass?
What do you do when you have more than 5 pages of launcher txt? It says only 5 pictures are allowed.
Attach the launcher log txt file itself, not screenshots of it
I was experiencing the issue of create profile, and since 3 days or so ago, it went to saying play demo. Is there anything I can send as well?
It's best to reach out to support with the message mentioned above:

If you do own Bedrock outright on your account, they should be able to help you. If, however, you're playing Bedrock under a family sharing structure, then you can't get access to Java at this time, unfortunately.
Well, actually support did help. I had a microsoft account created using the gmail.com account i used with mojang, and java edition went straight to that account, even though i specified a new microsoft account during migration...
There is no longer a redeem option for Java... so is this it then? Or will there be more to possibly fix it? A month later, and I've never been more disappointed.
If you are 100% positive you own Bedrock outright on your account, then try to install this:
Xbox Console Companion: https://aka.ms/XboxConsoleCompanion
Xbox App: https://aka.ms/DLXboxApp
Install and login to Console Companion in particular. It might solve your problem if you are trying to play under a non-device sharing ownership.
IF NOT: Users like Lilly who are facing this issue and may not have submitted a support ticket... submit a report ticket immediately if you actually want your problem attended to:
Report a support case so that we can have a closer look at your problem: https://aka.ms/Minecraft-Support
Just filed another support ticket under this issue, initially had one filed under: MCL-20496 Failed to create profile. I'll attach my launcher logs and the short vid I made here as well in case anyone has any insight on the issue or ideas to offer.

Ok, thanks for submitting a support ticket. We'll take a look.
Please note: A fix for this that should correct this for all/most impacted users has been rolled out. Please try accessing Java again.
I checked for the updated and nothing changed, support has left me "ghosted" for almost a month. Should I just forget it at this point?
EDIT: I checked again today 8/13/22, and still nothing. I've checked the launcher, xbox app, xbox site, microsoft site, the minecraft.net site says I still have to buy it... soooo... whatever I guess.
Just wondering how many months of waiting is considered to be patient enough before raging about the issue not being resolve is justified. And the moderators have my total sympathy, I know there is no way we'll ever see the people who are responsible for these issues slumming it down in the CX division. Just another tale of a company that got too big to care about the community that made it a success. Reprehensible but totally understandable given there is no one to hold them accountable. Why do they treat customers like this...the answer is simple, because they can.
Try again; this should be fixed for most users, in particular any users who have reached out to support.
Nope, still getting the Play Demo button, but not the actual game. I expected this but I tried yet again hoping it would be different this time around.
LillyK: Can you attach your most recent log file here?
GenuineSandman: Will you do the same, so I can see what's going on directly?
I even did a total fresh wipe and install with the same result. The minecraft java execute tells me Click here to use Launcher to play, Which sends me to the microsoft site to download the launcher where it tells me to use the xbox app to install and launch the program, from the launcher I can play my windows version no problem or can only play demo version of java.
I added this the wrong way I think, but this should be right I think. Anyhow my recent log file as requested.

... in particular, GenuineSandman please try the steps in the article SeaLocust linked.
LillyK: From your log, it appears you are playing Bedrock via a Device/Family sharing structure - which would mean the game was purchased on a different/parent account, and access to Bedrock was shared with you. That's fine for Bedrock - but we're unable to entitle Java under a device/family sharing structure at present. The parent account should be able to play Java, but to gain access yourself at present you'd have to buy the bundle directly under your account. If you feel this is incorrect, feel free to comment/provide more info.
Thank you SeaLocust that solved the problem immediately. I am a Canadian citizen, but am currently working overseas in S. Korea. I don't use Korea as my region setting because I am not Korean and if I set my region to Korea as experience has taught me then I get a bunch of Korean language rammed down my throat when I am only fluent in English. I hope Microsoft will have the foresight not to do this and keep my content in English, and not assume that just because I am in Korea my mother tongue must be Korean.
It is very incorrect. I had a legal name change and changed my email with it. If there is a "parent account", it's been deleted and was deleted at least a year before Java was available for free. So is it even accessible at this point? That's extremely frustrating. I shouldn't have to pay upwards of $30 for a game I should be entitled to.
Edit: It's also frustrating that I've gotten more answers from you (Donuts1000), than support. My last response from them was July 28th, and that was a general "don't send more requests, no answers yet" response.
My Microsoft account says I dont have any purchases made in my history. And my Minecraft launcher is telling me that I cant play java edition because my account is potentially family shared. I dont recall that being the case because I bought the game on the play store back when the game was still called pocket edition. I'm not sure if my issue is because Minecraft pocket edition and bedrock edition are considered different games and is therefore not in my purchase history or if my game is actually shared with me from a different account. I even went and checked the Microsoft app store to see if there were any other accounts in my family tab and my account was the only one listed.
To clarify, I am able to play bedrock edition on my Microsoft account without any issues and it is the same profile that I created for pocket edition back in the day.
Everything is pointing to my account being family shared but I have found no evidence to support that.
From what I understand I should be able to play java edition for free but it only lets me play the demo.
Pocket Edition is not a PC-based version of Bedrock, so I do not believe a purchase of it should entitle you to accessing Java, I'm sorry to say.
If you think this is incorrect, as I've previously noted, please reach out to support. 99.9999% of users who couldn't access & should've been able to now can due to bug fixing; with Support, we can look directly into your specific situation.
Hi, I cant play Java, it still a demo... what can i do Mojang ?
*Anyone running into this issue still, or otherwise unable to access Java*: At this point, you MUST report a support case so that we can have a closer look at your problem if you want a resolution to your issue. You can do that here: https://aka.ms/MCLauncherSupport

What good does reaching out to support do when they don't respond?
I am in discussion w/Support and they give me information about various issues they're encountering, and then we work with the devs to ensure all the bugs are fixed. NOT contacting Support will not be more useful, I assure you.
Reminder - Please do not include personal/contact information or IDs in your bug tickets or attachments here at the bug tracker.
So.... what is so wrong with giving out Java codes at this point? Because still no fix. I just had support tell me the info you (Dounts1000) told me about a week ago.
Also attached below is my Minecraft.net account. Showing that I have bedrock, but apparently not Java... so idk.
LillyK: What do you own Bedrock through? When did you buy it on the account you're using? I haven't been able to verify when you purchased yet, and haven't heard you report this to support yet either.
AND: Did you have Java access in the past?
If you can provide information showing past outright Bedrock ownership, then I can advise Support what to do. However, if you are playing Bedrock under a device entitlement or family sharing structure (both of which would show you as a Bedrock owner on the Profile page you showed a snapshot of), then that structure will NOT provide you with Java access.
When I bought the game it was via the Microsoft store app on pc over a year ago (between June and July 2021). I bought bedrock edition. And I very much reported it to Support, I've talked to Ollie, Thor, Fae, and a few others. If that's not support, who've I been talking with? I put in the original support ticket a week after this thing came out. And you're not supposed to make multiple tickets.
I bought a copy of bedrock after I thought I lost access to a completely different Minecraft account. That other account (which currently works fine) was originally a Java edition and I got the free bedrock upgrade when that was a thing (so the reverse of the current deal). I then bought it on another email, but I COMPLETELY transferred the account tied to the game (again, as I've had a name change and deleted the old account email.) My current Microsoft account has tells me I have complete access to the game, I simply changed the email to it.
So if by some bull reason that it is a "device entitlement or family sharing structure" there is no way to access the "parent account". But again that shouldn't be the case at all, I just changed the email attached to the account.
And what information do you need? I have all the past info, but no one is asking for it. The old email? The mastercard I bought it with?
This is truly the most frustrating support situation I've had.
You cant get both if you purchase only one. Only if you purchase the java&bedrock bundle
I think you're missing part of the conversation, but yes, it was actually recently a thing. That's why this bug exists.
Anything?
LillyK: support needs a transaction record. A receipt or whatever. Basically. Has support asked for that?
I give up. 4 months of wasted time for nothing.
So I did not understand, but how to get something if there is no "Get" button in the microsoft store?
Thank you for your report!

I have bought java and now I can not play bedrock. I can only use the trial. What should I do about this?
@unknown please reach out to Minecraft Support to address this: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/requests/new
The same problem. I've had the bedrock version for 4 years now, but I can't play java. I wrote to support, but they haven't answered me for 2 days
@unknown have you ever been able to play Java & this changed recently? Or have you never been able to play Java?
I've never been able to play java on this account
@unknown To confirm, have you already:
1) Confirmed you're logged in to the MS Store with the same account you're using in the Launcher - https://aka.ms/MSStoreHome
2) Confirmed you have all the MS Store updates installed? (Click "Library" in the Store & "Get Updates")
3) Tried logging in to the Xbox app as well to see if you see any errors https://aka.ms/DLXboxApp
Yes, that's all right. I've already changed my computer in a couple of years, but the problem is the same.
All the same, there is no "get" button, only "buy" :,(
I have the same thing, but for me, i own java and it says to me that i must buy bedrock while i already have java.
