The recipe for sticks is now 2 pieces of bamboo despite having planks in inventory.
Can not make planks out of logs.
Can not make torches either.

On one phone this is not an issue. Not sure if this helps just figured I'd put the info out there. I have two phones with Minecraft installed. One phone issue occurs (have not tried new world) on another phone issue does not occur (did start new world). Also phone with this issue also started having the name issue around same time. Not sure if related just giving info if it can help.
this currently only occurs in the 1.16.100.56 beta; your non-issue phone is probably on a stable release/previous version
Phone that was not having issue had not updated. Usually phones will auto update and will have a notification saying updated. Main phone never had notification and other phone did not update. But i looked in market place and did update. Now it has same problem.
i'm first surprized when this happened. Until i try to craft manually. Yes, crafting recipe is missing.
Also when you get custom items into the creative inventory, some of their recipes will show in the recipe book but not all of them (They also won't be categorised properly).

I'm sure that this bug still exist in 1.16.100.58 and it effects both android and win10. That is, some tools and items cannot be seen in the recipe book. Take pickaxe for instance, only wooden pickaxe can be seen in the recipe book. Whenever you have iron bars and sticks in your inventory, iron pickaxe don't show up in recipe book. We can only craft those tools when we place the items in the correct pattern.
As well as what was told above, some other items, including concrete dust, cannot be crafted through recipe book. That bothers one of my friend who is in need of those building blocks.
According to the duplicate MCPE-100280, you can still craft them by placing the planks in the grid manually.
