Farmer Villagers don't accept pumpkins

According to duplicate report MCPE-108946, relogging on PS4 does allow the trade.

I was not able to reproduce this bug in a new world on Windows 10.

Reproducible on Android 11 with version 1.16.101.01.

Also there is a good workaround at MCPE 108981. Face north and place/break a pumpkin block to clear the problem.

(on Windows 10) Following Edward's advice, the pumkins now work for trading when placing/breaking them while facing north. dk why it works like this but its weird.

I experienced this bug on an old PS4 world I been playing in 1.16, in a village I created from scratch in a new area. I've also reproduced it in a world I just made in 1.16.200 release version. I started in creative mode and made the bare minimum of a village: A simple house with door and bed, a bell, a composter, and a villager. I gave myself tons of emeralds and a stack of pumpkins, and placed a chest. I used emeralds to unlock the second tier quickly and the pumpkin trade was available. I switched personal game mode to survival, stored all but six pumpkins in the chest, faced south, placed the pumpkins, and broke them again. Then I tried trading but it would not work. So apparently the direction you are facing when placing/breaking the pumpkins is altering the items enough that the trader doesn't recognize them as pumpkins. In my old world I found that by facing north when placing/breaking the pumpkins, the trade would work.

On PS4, the farmers recognize that you have pumpkins when you hold them, and hold out emeralds to offer. They then seem to stop recognizing the pumpkins when you try to trade. See https://twitter.com/Dahlia990012/status/1339332294331543555?s=19

Relates to MCPE-46470 (they both save block states)

The reason this happens is because depending on the data value of the pumpkin block, the item drop will copy its value.
The trader will only accept the data value 0.
Any pumpkin that is placed while not facing the negative Z direction, will not be able to be traded after collected.

Note that the last pumpkin collected will update the current stack in the players inventory to whatever its data value is.
So this could work if the player collected pumpkins facing the south direction last.
Any other direction will not work.

Same issue with carved pumpkins and jack o lanterns

Confirmed that you must be facing North when harvesting the last pumpkin in order to trade. At least in 1.16.210.55 Beta version

This just happened to me. As Kate C says, the farmers hold out an emerald as they recognize you have pumpkin, but they don't want it for trading.

This happened on a realm on Android.

I have the same Problem in the newest Version of Minecraft

on PS4.

As @unknown mentioned, a simple workaround is to collect 1 north-facing pumpkin, and that will fix the entire stack that the pumpkin goes to. Another way to describe this workaround, is to have an affected stack in your inventory, place one pumpkin facing north, and break + collect that pumpkin. All the other pumpkins in that stack will be fixed.

this bug happened on the the newest 100 day ep of danrobzprobz and he says its cause when pistons push off the pumpkin it doesnt change the block to mined pumpkin. idk hope this helps
