With the recent Beta update to the game I have been getting a large amount of lag when activating RTX on my minecraft worlds. For context I am running this on a RTX 2070 Super and before could play with RTX on at 60FPS, around 75% usage and 24 chunks loaded. Now with a recent beta update my framerate drops to around 30fps while playing the game. Once more, looking at the usage of the gpu at the time of the framerate drops it is using only around 40% of my gpu meaning the game is somehow limiting how much of my gpu it is allowing me to use therefore creating this lag. Also the lag still persists even when I turn down the chunks to 8.

EDIT: After opting out of the beta I've found no issues with the framerate, ruling out the possibility of my PC being an issue.

Are you sure the PC does not have any problems? It might not have anything to do with the graphics card.

The PC runs flawlessly on any other game I throw at it. Such as Hitman 3 and Quake RTX which I get a smooth 60 at with RTX on and no problems. It just seems to be the recent version of the Beta that causes the issue. I'm currently testing the game outside the beta to see if the issue persists.

I have discovered that this issue is due to having vsync on, turning it off in the options.txt file will give you back that lost performance.

Thanks for the help, I'll try that next. If it does work hopefully this issue will be fixed by the next beta update.

I have this same problem. Any other RTX game, Warzone particularly, works flawlessly. Minecraft RTX, however, is UNPLAYABLE.

It can be fixed with turn off vsync and fixed for me.

1. Press Win + R and insert the following path

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftpe\options.txt

2. In the notepad replace the string
gfx_vsync:1

with

gfx_vsync:0

3. I recommend setting the FPS limit so that the PC doesn't overload !

Just replace the next line in the same file
gfx_max_framerate:0

with

gfx_max_framerate:140

4. Restart your game if your game had previously opened.

Warning: If you only have Intel Integrated GPU only, it might not work or sometimes work for some users.

Same issue here, RTX 3060 using any RTX pack. 30fps on 8 chunks with vsync on, 60 with 8 chunks with vsync off. 1.19.10

Same Here, I got to play it like it was Minecraft Classic Again because RTX makes it laggy but what is really interesting is that when I run heavy shaders on Java it runs better at a solid 60 FPS for some odd reason.

@Ghosted Try going into your main menu settings, going to video, and making sure that you didn’t set a frame rate limit.  It for some reason sets your frame rate to half of the shown value.

Or as MADLAD said, disable V-Sync.

This happens even without V-Sync for me. Please fix this, Mojang!
