Undead Mobs Are Not Attracted To Turtle Eggs

Undead mobs of all types (zombies, zombie pigmen, skeletons etc) often times do not notice turtle eggs or try to pathfind towards them to destroy them. They can notice the eggs, but it usually takes about 30+ seconds. They should instantly notice the eggs as soon as they are within range of them.

*How to reproduce
1. Spawn a bunch of undead mobs
2. Place a turtle egg somewhere they can reach it

You should observe that the mobs don't do anything to the egg or notice it at all. Given time they might notice it and trample it, but they should try to destroy it immediately.

I use turtle eggs in my drowned farm, and I am unable to replicate this bug in 1.18.30. I think this bug is invalid.

I created a simple test world.

In this world is a pen containing a drowned, husk, zombie, and zombified piglin. To verify that turtle eggs attract these mobs, place one on any of the emerald blocks. As expected, if (1) the turtle egg is in the detection range of the mobs, (2) there is an air-block above the turtle egg, and (3) the mobs an find a path to the egg, they will be attracted to it. There is no delay in the attraction.

I have viewed the video claiming to show this bug, and that video is consistent with expected mechanics. When the mobs can't find a path to an egg, they aren't attracted to it. When they can find a path to the egg, they go right for it.

1.19.0, still an issue.

This is affecting zombie pigmen, when the turtle egg is separated from the undead mob by either coral fans, or open trapdoors.

I am having this issue also. 1.19.2 still not working

It seems the baby pigmen are attracted to the egg and walk over the dead coral fans as expected

Hi there, silentwisperer!

Could you please record a video of your issue?
Also does this occur on specific world settings and/or specific block/elements that you use?

I believe I found the issue and think this can be resolved - zombie piglins, and likely all zombies, will not be attracted to turtle eggs if there is not at least half a block of empty space above them to jump on it. In my attempts to reproduce this the mobs were in a space that was only 2 blocks tall, and as soon as I removed the roof or replaced with top-half slabs the behavior works as expected.

Resolving as Cannot Reproduce as per the comment above. If the issue still occurs, please reopen this ticket or create a new one.

For me in 1.19.22 on iPad it’s the y level. If you spawn any undead mob on the ground and then place a turtle egg on a block in range of the mobs with the same y value, they stomp it. Although, skeletons are very slow. But if you do the same thing, just with the egg one block higher they don’t see them 4 some reason. They just literally don’t care.

@unknown: I believe you're misinterpreting what's happening. If turtle eggs are on top of a block one Y-level up from where the undead mob is, the mob can't jump onto the block where the eggs are because it would have to jump more than 1 block high to clear the eggs, so it ignores the eggs in that situation. But if you put another block beside the one the eggs are on and the mob can jump onto that one, it will use that to get beside the eggs and from there it can stomp them. You could express this as a rule that an undead mob has to be able to get to a block beside the sea turtle eggs first, and there must be at least three unobstructed blocks above both that block and the block the eggs are on so that it has room to jump onto the eggs.

I'm having this same bug on 1.19.2 and 1.19.4rc1.

I think it my have to do with the world seed since this bug is just happening in one of my worlds.

this is a test world with the same seed on where i'm having the bug its just on the test world and the real one
