Game will not open- stuck at 66% on loading screen after update to 1.19.70

Please only comment if you are experiencing this issue in 1.19.71. If your device has not yet updated, you will need to wait until the update is available. For some devices, the "store" has to certify apps before they can be downloaded. This is beyond the control of Mojang / Microsoft. We do not know exactly when that will happen.

Since updating my game this afternoon, it has not been able to open. It remains at 66% on the loading screen. I have tried reinstalling, restarting, checked for corrupt data, deleted data off memory card and redownloaded on switch itself, and forced quitting. I even put the game card in another switch in my home and it was able to open with no problem. When I log into my account on his switch it does not work again- always stuck at 66%

Contacted Nintendo- they decided it was not a console issue.

The only other unique thing is that if I leave it to load and then go to home screen- it will say 71% quickly when I reopen the game but then go back to 66%.

EDIT: This issue is still not resolved. A number of us have not received the update so the issue is not yet resolved.

Having the same issue, I tried

re installing

restarting

hard restart

clearing system cache

happens on my main switch profile but not my other, contacted Nintendo as well and they claim it’s not a system or profile issue

I am actually kind of relieved that this is also happening to someone else. Hopefully this means it will be resolved sometime soon. Good luck and let us know if you fix it somehow!!!!!

Same issue here. Stuck at 66% on main switch account, will flash to 71% if I exit and reopen without ending the game. Can get it on other account but not connected to my Minecraft account.

migrated

Same here! So glad it’s not just me but also hopeful that it will be resolved quickly! I mean, I was in the middle of an awesome build and can’t continue 😛

I’m having this exact issue too. Have tried all the things and still no luck. I can’t believe they don’t have someone working on this immediately. I had a group over to play this evening and it was utterly enraging. Just bricked.😞

Exact same issue here. I really hope this is solved soon

Reopened the issue. Sorry for any confusion, we are looking into this! Thank you for your patience.

Just to add a bit more info

It seems to only be affecting the main account on the Switch, other people can play on my Switch, and I can load the game if I use a different device. Deleting all my saved data will allow me to launch the game, but it will stop working as soon as I restore my worlds from the back up data.

Considering a forced update has prevented everyone on an entire console from playing for close to a hole day can we get more of an update than this is not the same issue as what happened 2 years ago on a different system and we will look into after ignoring you for 20 hours? How about allowing us to downgrade to a version that actually works, Id prefer to be able to load the game than breed horses

I have same issue MCPE-168322 workaround is to put nintendo switch into flight mode then the game will load.

Putting the console into airplane mode did not resolve my issue

Mine is stuck on 66% also today (switch). Redownloaded app, cleared cache etc and still the same 😓😭😠

Can't put into airplane mode while connected to TV as I have to use a special TV screen due to disability so can't play handheld.

My case was closed because of duplicate so i write my text here instead: Today I received a new update for my Minecraft software on Nintendo Switch. After updating I tried to start the software but the loading got stuck at 66%. After waiting for over 15 minutes I closed the software and tried to start the game with my sons user and that worked just fine. The difference between our users is that mine is linked to an Nintendo account and my son's isn't. After trying my user a couple of more times and still being stuck at 66% I went to Settings - Data Management - Software and tried checking for corrupted data. No corrupted data was found so I tried to redownload the software. After redownloading it still got stuck at 66%. I went back to Data management and tried to delete the software and reinstall it, didn't help either. I tried another network connection, didn't help. I tried several other games and did not have any problems with any of them. What in the end made Minecraft start was to set the Nintendo Switch in flight mode. But I want to be able to play it in normal mode as well. How can this issue be resolved?

Same issue on my Xbox One X version.

Locked at 66% loading since the last update.

I am having this same issue on PS4.  My daughter installed the update yesterday on her profile and it now gets stuck at 66% on the load screen on only her profile.  All the other profiles work fine.  My profile is the main profile and we usually load updates using it.

Same exact issue here. Nintendo switch stays at 66% on Minecraft only on main profile. Tried all the troubleshooting and nothing works.

I am having the same issue on my iPad.

My girlfriend had the same issue on her Nintendo switch, seems to be a server based issue as you can access the game from a user that is not signed into a Microsoft account (we made a new user on the switch and the game loaded fine). Aeroplane mode does not work.

Same issue here and it only won’t open on the main switch account. i was able to open minecraft with the secondary account but no avail for the main. Have tried clearing cache, Flight mode, restarting the console, and waiting at the screen for an hour. Hopefully gets resolved soon. very frustrating

Also attempted all restarts/the basics to fix the issue with no luck. Additionally, I tried creating a new user and linking it to the same Nintendo account and Microsoft  account I use with my main game. After linking this new user to my main accounts, I was still able to open the game as this new user, but my worlds from my main game were not accessible even with the accounts successfully linked. So sad that I can’t play in my main world and work on my builds. Hoping it can be fixed soon! <3

I am also having the same issue on windows 10 Build:19045.2728

Xbox Series S updated to 1.19.70, but only affects one of three Xbox profiles with Minecraft saves. Two load flawlessly (one parent, one child) and the other is stuck at 66%.

After I remove save data on Switch, I can start Minecraft. Then, I restore save data from Nintendo Switch Online save data keeping service. After that, I cannot start Minecraft. So, it seems that this issue is related to save data.

migrated

From what I have found out this only effects profiles on switch with a Nintendo account linked to it as when I use a profile on switch without a Nintendo account linked it works fine.

Andexter

This happened to me on my ps4 but when I restarted the whole ps4 then Minecraft started up fine.

Flight mode won't fix my issue. Bluetooth neither. Tried reboot and cleared cache, no luck.
However, I created a guest Nintendo user for Minecraft, it works, but it is a fresh game without my saved world,

I've seen some people comment that airplane mode worked for them or that a fresh install worked for others. Neither of these on their own worked for me, BUT with a fresh install and going into airplane mode before loading the game, I've successfully been playing my world the last couple of days. I hope this may help others (hopefully they fix it soon....). Also, Nintendo Switch digital download as my source if it matters.

I am experiencing the same issue:

  • I have 4 Nintendo Switch, each running Minecraft.

  • 3 run Minecraft fine.

  • 1 is stuck on the perpetual 66% load.

    • The various hacks of airplane mode, restart, etc do not help this one get past the 66% loading.

    • Deleted and reinstalled the game as well, also did not solve.

Bummer as I just set up a Realm yesterday, 1 kid is left out.

Similar behavior occurs on Windows 10 with 1.20.32 as reported in MCPE-173316, albeit the loading screen seems to be consistently and indefinitely stuck at 41% (also game is unplayable). See for example this thread on the microsoft community forum. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/i-cant-start-my-minecraft-its-stuck-on-41/8bf6daf1-348f-48e6-ab52-fc43f3ffec3a

In the Windows 10 case, killing the "Runtime Broker" process resolves the issue.
