Summary:
Using items on iron trapdoor works as if it was wooden (you must sneak to use something) while it should work without sneaking (like on PC version). Most likely it was caused by the way of making iron trapdoor: it was copied from wooden trapdoor and then the changes were made to it, so this feature was forgotten.
Steps to reproduce:
Place the iron door and iron trapdoor.
Try to use item while looking at the door and trapdoor.Β
Observed results:
An animation of the hand will play as if this trapdoor and the door can be opened. And the items are not used.
Expected results:
The item will be used.

What is the impact of this issue? From the description, it sounds more like the Java version is bugged with an inconsistency.

This also affects iron doors. The problem is, that iron doors and trap doors are interactive blocks, even though you canβt open/close them without a redstone signal. This causes you to be unable to use any items while looking at it. And @unknown there is no inconsistency like this on java. The same thing was a bug on java MC-4582 and it got fixed in 1.11. This also got fixed on legacy console edition (which is not supported anymore), when it received the 1.11 update, but this still hasnβt been fixed on bedrock yet.
Can confirm in 1.16.210.59. Requesting ownership.

Affects 1.17.40.20
