Vibrant Visuals: Auto exposure causing lights to darken the environment more than expected

The lights when looking at them or being in an environment with several lights makes the environment become darker than expected and the colors are too saturated

Steps to reproduce.

  1. Activate vibrant visuals.

  2. Change the time to midnight

  3. Take any object that generates light and place it

  4. Observe it closely and you will see how it will begin to darken the environment and when you stop observing it (Focus it) it will begin to illuminate the player's view well.

Observed Results:

When viewing a light placed by the player or if in a building (a house) when it is illuminated the environment always darkens making the player see the game darker than normal

Expected Results:

The lights should illuminate closed or open places at night, making visible what the player wants to illuminate for better visibility as it does in version 1.21.8102.0, the possible error is due to the change in saturation (personally I do not like the saturation that is there, it should be something more natural)

Another post just Highlighting the issues with Auto exposure.

It is way too strong. It also ruins the Glowing effect of Emissive textures. Makes them washed out and lack colour variation too.

Can confirm. Besides, auto exposure does not put handheld emissive items into consideration, meaning that they can get super bright in dark areas, as shown in the attached screenshot. For me this is utterly unbearable since anytime I’m trying to make out what’s in the dark this super bright torch keeps blinding me from the corner of my screen.

makes all of my well lit indoor areas appear very dark, ironically because they are so well lit. hiding the light sources does not seem to help very much; it’s not just emissive blocks; it’s block light in general. maybe block lightness as well.

for example this makes well lit paintings quite dark

and it makes dark areas like caves appear brighter than they ought to

having the effect makes sense but it needs tuning

(I just want to make sure this is Well known) Lava, Glowstone and Shroomlights are BY FAR the worst affected emissive blocks.

You don’t even have to look directly at lava, for it to lose all emissive qualities.

Another example of how extreme the effects are. Pleeeaaaass fix this soon.

Another example in real time. The glow stone is under exposed and it darkens the background, making blocks too dark.

Comments about lava on this report are not relevant, as lava is not emissive at all (MCPE-222858).

This clip shows how cumbersome it can be to deal with the current auto-exposure effect. I am placing blocks in a mob farm that has a roof over it to block out sky light. The floor is lit by torches that you can see. Every time I point out toward the sunlit horizon, everything around me darkens drastically, and then after I look up at the ceiling I have to wait a few seconds to be able to see the blocks where I am placing trapdoors. This is despite using a resource pack that reduces sunlight luminance by 30% compared to vanilla.
